Hi all! I was just accepted to U of T St. George for Life Sciences (Trinity).
I applied back in September, and I am a Canadian studying in the U.S.
Good luck to everyone else and may you enjoy a speedy acceptance!
By the way can someone describe the two residential options at Trinity? Why is Chestnut more expensive?
Congrats! Yep it looks like you’re super early because many of my friends haven’t got any response yet, nor did I. By the way, do you HAVE to sign up for residence if you want to be accepted to UofT because I want some time to ask around and maybe do a little tour lol
@wnsladmstkfkd
Nope you don’t have to sign up. I don’t know about Scarborough, but for Mississauga you have to rank the residences but nothing official. And for St. George you only sign up (officially) after you are accepted. Best of luck to you, friend! Maybe we’ll meet someday lol!
@NorthernKev Congratulations to you! I do think that is early, so you must be a very desirable candidate.
How did the acceptance arrive – email? snail mail? Also, did you apply to two different faculties, and if so, did you get separate responses at the same time: one from Trinity, one from Faculty of Life Sci and then one other?
@Leyland At first I didn’t get anything; I was just logging in to Join U of T one day and it just shows “Admitted” to Faculty of Life Sciences and U of T Mississauga. An email acknowledgement arrived a week later. Trinity didn’t send me an email, but under “Next Steps” under St. George campus there were a bunch of links and the first one was the acceptance letter to Trinity. It looked like that everything all came together as I check the portal quite regularly.
@NorthernKev I was accepted today! Two programs: CS at St. George and Mississauga. Still waiting for EE at SG.
@Ninopedia congrats! When did you submit a completed application? So, unlike NorthernKev, you did not get all your acceptances at the same time?? did you apply for residence in a college?
@Leyland Thanks! I submitted pretty early, around Dec. 1 of 2014. I didn’t get acceptances at the same time because the programs I was accepted to are both in the arts and sciences, while the pending program is in the school of engineering. The departments in UofT are pretty independent and have their own committees, portals, etc. Also, engineering applicants needed to complete a “video interview” in their Student Profile Form. I completed that 1-2 weeks after I submitted the basic application, and it probably requires more reviewing on the part of the AOs. I applied for residence, but I don’t think I need to worry about that until later.
******Oh crap, in my previous post I meant Scarborough, not Mississauga.
@Ninopedia Congratulations! We might be future classmates together lol. I wish I could apply to Engineering, but because I never took physics before they won’t let me Anyways hopefully you’ll get into engineering as well!
@NorthernKev Thanks!
Are you applying from the US or Canada? I’m a Canadian citizen going to school in the US. I submitted my app in October and got my decision on Jan 14, but none of my Canadian friends have heard anything yet.
Congratulations! Trinity is supposed to be the most selective. It sounds like you have an ideal situation. I cannot shine light on the two options within Trinity- I would suppose the price difference reflects differences in the Room, since I believe board for Trinity is uniform- maybe larger, or better location rooms? I imagine it will be easy to sort with a phone call or email or two.
I believe the application for Toronto is open until March, so it must be nice to be securely in the smallest, most selective college at a great Uni!
@appa609 I’m applying from US. None of my friends back home got offers either so I guess they give it to out of country citizens first? Lol i don’t know.
Cool. I’m in University College for Physical Science. Did your letter mention anything about a scholarship? Thanks.
@appa609 My Mississauga one mentioned the entrance scholarship, but not St.George.
urgent question! I applied around December. I heard that if my grade 11 marks are high, early acceptances may be offered. Will my high grade 11 and some grade 12 course GPA give me higher chance for admission? Also, how often do I have to send my transcripts? I heard it’s good to send in every time a new mark has been upgraded. Can you still get unconditional offer without the provincials exam (eng.12)?
I just got my acceptance last night (at 1AM EST??? oooookay UToronto) which I also thought was surprisingly early; I submitted my application in late October but my transcripts and test scores in December. I’m in UTSG University College for Humanities and UTM for Humanities. I am an American student (living and studying in Massachusetts) so maybe international students do get priority admission decisions? The email said that I would be getting a letter (presumably via snail mail) with more details later, so I don’t know about scholarships or anything. I assumed I would be getting little money, if any, because I am an international applicant.
@mh0330 I would recommend sending your transcripts every time a grading period has ended (I don’t know where you live but here we have terms and semesters, I sent in my first term grades and was going to send in my first semester grades but I got my acceptance before doing so)
International students do not get priority admission. Their applications are often submitted earlier than the date at which OUAC forwards application materials to Ontario universities. Ontario universities do not have much scholarship money for internationals, and international fees have increased in the past several years. If you have an updated transcript from the fall, you can forward it. For those who are accepted, you will have to forward a final transcript when you have your grades at the end of this school year.
Congrats to those of you who have received an acceptance! U of T is a great school. I will recommend that you keep a close eye on when/how you apply for residence. You do NOT want to miss that deadline.
