Alright. I've read through several already-posted threads regarding this issue... but people tend to dance around the question and never answer it.

My question is this:
The laptop I'm looking at has about 2 hour-ish battery life. Will that be enough for me to get through college?

ALRIGHT. NOW HERE'S THE TRICKY PART.
I need you guys to answer this question with either YES or NO. Nothing else. You can't say "depends..." or "maybe..." Because that's just spamming bro. (Not helpful at all) You can't explain yourself either. So just "Yes" or "No" and click "Post Quick Reply"

This should be fun! Oh, and please, none of that "JUST GET A MAC" crap either. :)

2 hours of battery life seems kinda low these days. If you are looking at a 17 inch laptop or a super gaming laptop I would stay away from those because of their low battery life since you would need it to last you a long time if you plan on taking it to class with you. Unless you have you heart set on this computer I would at least buy an extra battery ( or two) but that could get very heavy when carrying it around all day. I would strongly suggest that you find a different laptop that has a better battery life and is light and portable enough for you to carry around campus all day. usually the average battery life I have seen on new laptops are 3-5 hours.

No, it’s not enough. If they say that it lasts 2 hours, it probably lasts more like 1½ hrs. Look for a battery life somewhere between 3-5 hours.

I recommend a thinkpad if you want to be able to have battery life and power in your laptop. It has hybrid graphics that allows you to switch(without needing to restart, completely instant with a click and flash of the screen) from the quite low power Intel intregrated graphics(I get an extra hour or some more with the battery using this) to the high power ATI Mobile Radeon chipset.
From the other posts I’ve read about you being a gamer, this should be fitting. My T500 plays games decently, most of the settings on high, (so far I’ve found I need medium on shaders in L4D for some silly reason otherwise it lags but theres zero visual difference), but it depends on the games. Be warned, you want a wireless mouse(RF, not bluetooth).

If it’s advertised two hours, no way because the ads are always more than generous about battery life. If that’s real world usage, measured and reported, then it’s maybe somewhat low but not terrible.

Depends on the usage test. A good tester report has the thing running at full screen brightness, playing a dvd, etc. for one take and then a more power-aware 2nd take.

Full brightness is so useless. It’s annoying and wastes battery. I run my laptop with very low brightness but am often watching movies and the battery lasts like 3.5 hours doing that. If I’m just playing games or surfing the net the life is better. If it were any less I would think it wasn’t enough, especially since the life of batteries decreases the longer you have/use them.

That’s my point. Trying to help the person: maybe he / she was reading about a laptop, caught the 2 hour battery life but it was at full screen brightness while playing a dvd and doing 3D calculations. I don’t know but he / she may be able to use the info.
