I’m a Junior and I have 5s on multiple APs, including Calc AB and Physics I.
My 770 is in the 77th percentile.
Is this 770 good enough for engineering schools or should I retake it for a higher score?
By engineering schools, I don’t exactly mean MIT and CalTech, but more along the lines of UMich, Georgia Tech, Cornell, Texas-Austin, and USC.
That’s a fantastic score, you’re done.
Don’t look at the percentiles. That’s 77th percentile of students who take the physics test. Not exactly the general population of students.
Ok, yeah, that’s what many other people have been telling me. Thank you! B-)
“Competitive” is a better adjective; AOs are not easily “impressed.”
The score is great, so no need to retake. Don’t get caught up with percentiles. It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the ones that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.
Great information. Thanks!
