Okay well … I did FAFSA and my parents are seperated. I have lived with my mom and my father hasn’t lived with us in a long time. So I ofcourse I put seperated on FAFSA and everything worked out fine. Now … I’m doing CSS for 2 schools and they both require the non custodial info. And well… I don’t know what to do for the non custodial one. My parents are seperated BUT STILL MARRIED. They live in different states … should I even do the non custodial profile ? My dad doesn’t give us any welfare or alimony so should I just leave those blank? Idk what to do. He also makes ALOT more money so would that hurt my chances at getting money ?
You can ask each college for a waiver for the noncustodial form.
Not all places allow for that. Each place asks for different kinds of documentation proving that the NCPis not providing support.
Howver, since you appear to be in contact with your father, it is not likely that a waiver will be approved, so you need to ask him to fill out the paperwork. Tell him that completing the paperwork does not commit him to helping you pay for college.
