I'm confused?

So colleges award money right? So I'm eligible for the federal pell grant, so does this mean no matter what school I go to I will get this federal grant?

Wow, you need a whole education in financial aid. Read up on Pell grants in general and then go to the college websites of the schools that you want to go to and read their particular guidelines. Yes, the Pell grant would come through your college (not through your bank account) but I would never just assume it will happen.

You have to fill out the Fafsa, be admitted to the college and fulfill all paperwork required by that specific college. Pay attention to details (like deadlines).

It is easier the second and third year because you learn the sequence of events. But don’t just type some numbers into a school financial aid calculator and assume there is money lying around with your name on it.

Start here: [Pell Grant Requirements](http://www.pellgrantrequirements.com/)
REad everything.
Go to college website. Read everything on financial aid. Good luck

The Pell will go to the school you attend and it will be applied to your costs there. For example, if you’re getting a $5000 Pell grant, and you have a $10,000 bill from the college, they will credit you that $5000 from the Pell grant and your balance due would then be the remaining $5000.

I believe there may be some oddball marginal type “schools” that wouldn’t qualify, but any regular public or private college (including 2-yr community colleges) would receive the Pell toward your expenses.

What was your EFC? That will determine the size of your Pell Grant.

How much does the college cost that you’ll be attending?
