I've been reading about pell grants and it says that you'll be automatically receive the pell grant. What I don't get is this part, "Once you complete the FAFSA, take it to the Financial Aid Department at your school. The school will then process it and send it in for review. Once your form is reviewed, you will be informed of your eligibility and how much your award will be. This notice will be mailed out before the funds are made available to you." I did my FAFSA online so is it automatically sent to my college? Will I need to do anything else? Please help I'm confused and really need the money.

Did you put down your school’s code on FAFSA? If not, go back and do that.

What was your FAFSA EFC?

People don’t “automatically receive a Pell Grant.” You have to qualify for one based on your EFC. If your EFC is low enough, then you qualify.

The Pell Grant is a federally funded grant. It is awarded based on your FAFSA EFC. When you did your FAFSA, what WAS your EFC? If it was more than $5000, you will not receive a Pell grant. When did you DO your FAFSA?

how do i check my EFC?
