I'm curious, did anyone tour UWF or UNF? Thoughts?

What did you think? I just visited UF this past week and have been wondering about other universities.

My best friend’s d is going to UNF in the fall, and she’s very excited. She needed a smaller school. UF/UCF/FSU were just to overwhelming for her. She and her family did the general tours before she applied, and she just felt at “home” there where she hadn’t at the bigger schools. Sure, she’d love a football team, but she’s not stressed because they don’t have one. She has a t-shirt that pokes fun at the fact that they have an undefeated football program. She’ll be studying nursing, and it has an exceptional nursing program linked to all the myriad hospitals in jacksonville. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to drive there from Orlando, and that’s a perfect distance for her. They just completed the new UNION, and they’ve also completed in time for fall a brand new housing complex … complete with a lazy river. LOL. She’s not staying there because she liked a different dorm better. She’ll be in the honors program, and they’ve been impressed with that so far. She’s going on an honors retreat prior to the first week of school (so she’ll be moving on campus a few days early). The also had an honors get together right after school got out. Make sure if you apply that you do the essay on the application. It was optional last year; don’t know about this year. But she realized before the major scholarships deadline that that essay is needed for merit consideration. Oops! Literally the day before the scholarship was due I helped her come up with a topic to write about, knowing she’s a creative kind of writer and good at poking fun at herself. She whipped it off in a couple of hours, I edited it and sent it back to her, and she submitted a few hours later before the deadline. She got a great scholarship! So … don’t forget that essay and don’t forget a little humor can be good. <g></g>

Thank you!
That was very informative!

Just my 2 cents, but I have been on the UNF campus for several events and don’t think it can hold a candle to the UF campus…The UF campus has more of a traditional campus feel and is much more attractive.

I don’t know much about UNF programs though…

I actually toured 4 schools in the matter of two days. Two being UF and UNF. I, personally, liked UF better because it is a bigger school and it fits my personality better. I was not overly impressed with UNF. The campus was really nice, and it had a lot to offer, it just didn’t work for me. It really depends on what the person attending is looking for.
