I'm Freaking Out: When do ACT/SAT/SAT Subject Tests have to be RECIEVED versus SENT?

My game plan has been to wait til today to submit all of my apps, test scores, etc.

But I just found out that the tests won’t be received for one to two weeks… Do colleges need to already have my scores by today, or just receive my application by today?

Please help me D:

Here is my college list if it helps (I know its lengthy, its a long story)

Boston College
Brown U
Dartmouth College
Duke U
Swarthmore College
George Washington U
Tufts U
Vanderbilt U
Vassar College
Williams College

The answer is that there is no answer.

Some schools make a hard cut off if they don’t have all the materials by the due date. Other schools will allow items to trickle in (letters of rec, test scores, stuff other people have to send in) as long as items YOU are responsible to complete arrive on time. Other schools will be even more generous and will allow things to come in after the due date…but not often.

Do all of those schools have Jan 1 due dates? I always suggest that students send everything in at least 1-2 weeks in advance of the due date. And for SAT/ACT scores, even sooner, as last year fall SAT scores were very delayed.

You’ll need to look at each school’s website. They will say whether all materials need to be submitted by Jan 1 or whether there is leeway for test scores etc. if not on the website, call on the 3rd.

In the future, don’t wait until the last minute to submit anything. Bad practice that will come back to bite you.

I know, I feel horrible for forgetting T.T

On the websites of most of these colleges the ‘last testing date’ is usually the january sat/december act… with these scores coming out at the end/mid january in the first place, would my scores arriving around the same time be a disqualifying factor?

Look at your last paragraph. The logic is intrinsic. You’re fine. You know that the colleges are ECSTATIC you’ve applied, right?

Youre fine as long as you apply by the deadline.

Heck, I’d say colleges would accept mildly late applications gladly!

Williams told us that they needed only the application. The ancillary materials can arrive later.

It depends on the schools, but it should be fine for most schools. Some schools like UMich have a strict deadline though.

Most schools understand that you cannot rely entirely with the College Board to send scores on time anyway. You could have ordered them two weeks ago and they still may take another week. I’ve had plenty of issues with them, and colleges have been understanding. I have found there usually is a date they do have to make it there by, but it is often a few weeks or month or so after the actual deadline. You should be fine, but as one user already stated you should not have waited till the last day to submit everything. It is always good to be proactive.

Thank you guys! I hope everyone has luck with their colleges.
