College 8. It’s pretty much the SoCal college from my experience. Active people, good view of the ocean, UCSB rejects (no offense meant). The walk to the library should be about 10 minutes. If you’d rather be closer to the gym, Cowell/Stevenson. Stay the eff away from Crown, Merrill, Porter, and Kresge based on your description.

Porter also has the problem of the Transfer Community. There are a lot of things happening with it that are causing many to become increasingly irritated at the lack of respect for Porter affiliates.

Love Porter. Do not love that it is slowly becoming dominated by non-Porter affiliates. That’s what The Village, Redwood Grove, and University Town Center are for.

Disclaimer: I was a transfer myself. I love transfers. I don’t love that some big wig has gotten it into their head that the best way to integrate transfers into the university is to segregate them. I also don’t love that it seems every day something new changes trying to accommodate the mess they created by allowing transfers more and more affiliate only privileges.

Not understanding the line re UCSB rejects. D got into both but UCSB is off the list. Dad suggested she add it even though she was disinterested. Do you not think people with top qualifications might select UCSC because of physical beauty, ocean proximity, SF proximity, and the college system?

Ah, sorry for quick read and reply- should never reply after midnight…were you saying college 8 has a stereotypical UCSB population? Ha, as a mom I thought it looked like a new all-suites hotel, so different from the others, and it was in the SUN.

UCSB attracts a lot of people because of its stereotype of being a party school, its proximity to the beach, and so on. A lot of people seek out college 8 at UCSC to try to have a similar experience. I’m not entirely sure how college 8 gained that reputation.

I got into UCSB myself and chose UCSC for exactly the reasons you said. :)

Here’s some advice. I’ve talk to people from College Eight and they told me they hate it. Cowell/Stevenson is where it’s at. We are the closest ones to the gym and attract the most attractive/fit people on campus. Not only that, but we are the biggest party colleges in UCSC. Also, Steven College has the Stevenson Library which is right across from its dorms (no joke, it takes less than a minute to get there) and it’s open 24/7. You also said you enjoy bball and volleyball, we have the bball and volleyball courts right by. We also have the track and have the most beautiful view of campus. There’s a reason why orientation leaders always take their people see Cowell/Stevenson.

so if im very social, love to dance, loud and outgoing, can be serious at times when it somes toschool, i like to be chill back, drugs are watevs to me;once in a while for me, i hate stuk up cheerleaders, and i am a lez, is that a fit for porter?
so which top 5 schools should be for me then>
