Ok, I know there are lots of other links for these, but they are kind of confusing. I was wondering if someone could tell me what college would be best for me, or a few that would be good for me.

My first choice right now is Kresge. I'm positive about this one. I've visited it, stayed a night in it, and I love it. I don't know what to choose for my next four though.

Here's something about me:

I'm a caucasion female that is extremely artsy and loves music. I love drama, plays, movies, etc. I'm not into hard drugs or anything at ALL. I'd like to party, but not really big parties. I love to be independent (why I like Kresge), and I'd really like to avoid the stereotypical "dumb jocks" and "preps".

Porter sounds like it may work and surprisingly enough Cowell. It has an active theatre community. I have never found "dumb jocks" to be prevalent at UCSC. Jocks yes esp a Stevenson but I think you will find that very few "dumb" people end up at UCSC.

i like porter because it has a more friendly social environment. kresge is kind of isolated apartments.
i have a friend that lives in Kresge and she says its nice but nobody is really social. none of her roommates talk to each other. and when i visited there werent alot of people hanging out outside. i am not that outgoing of a person but i rather be in a more social environment if i want it. to me, it just seems there are plenty of places in the forest to be alone and whatnot might as well get a real dorm experience while you are in college.

thanks.... yeah, i kinda agree with you. i still have my heart set on kresge, but porter will be up there i think. but ill definately come visit you at porter! they are right next to eachother. :)

i think i am going to porter. i am not sure though. but you sound like me, and from what i am hearing, people think that i will be really happy at porter.

to anyone familiar with the colleges at ucsc-
i’m kind of the stereotypical party girl/social butterfly. i love going out to parties and the beach and just meeting people. i did cheerleading in high school and started “sisters club”, kind of like a mini sorority. i’m considering joining a sorority in college. i don’t have a problem with hippies/artsy people but wouldn’t want to be at the ultimate hippie art college where i wouldn’t really fit in. i’m fine with the whole drinking scene and i don’t really have a problem with the drug scene as long as it’s not too extreme. i just want a place where i can meet lots of “normal” people and socialize! i’ve heard colleges 9 and 8 are the most suited for my preferences… if any of you have any input i would really appreciate it asap! thank you!
also i was really hoping to go to cal poly or uc santa barbara if that’s helpful at all to giving any input! thanks again.

i don’t know what college to pick. i’ve narrowed it down to cowell and college 8 but can’t really decide. I’m also very social, am considering joining a sorority at ucsc, and just like to have fun and try new things. i’m respectful of all different viewpoints and lifestyles so can anyone give an input on which one would be better??

Haha okay well I love swimming, hiking, being outdoors and trying new things, I really want to learn how to surf. I like to socialize with people and make new friends, occasionally go out to party but there are times when I just like to spend my days reading a book and watching movies. My major is undecided I’m not sure if I want to pursue business or education. I played basketball since I was six so I like to stay active. All in all, I’m looking for the best college with more “normal” people I guess cause I’m not really into the excessive drug/stoner scene. I have no problem with people who are, I would just rather be around more people that I can get along with the most! :)

Ok thats better. You mention you like to stay active, Stevenson and Cowell are the two nearest to the gym and sports/recreational facilities, and consequently have the most people who are into working out and exercising. College 8 also has some sports facilities as well, but not to the extent of what you would see with the previous two. From what i’ve noticed, Stevenson, Cowell, and 8 seem to attract a lot of surfers.

Stevenson, Cowell, 8, 9, 10 are also the most “normal” colleges. That being said, every college, regardless of their stereotype, has a good mix of students.

Most partying is held off campus, but you’re more likely to see it at Stevenson and Cowell, and to a lesser extant 8, 9, and 10.

I’d go with something like this:
1-2: Cowell/Stevenson
3: 8
4-5: 9/10

wow! thanks so much taking the time to reply back! some people dont haha. from what you said im almost positive now im going to choose cowell for my number 1. plus i like that it is close to quarry plaza. thanks again for all the info!!:)
