umm hispanic with 2250? HUGE BONUS. I don't really see you getting rejected..

Go for HYPS. Can I get hot-dogs instead of cookies?

whaleback, let's exchance our credentials (excluding GPA)

thanks for all the replies!

mr chip, sure, you sure you don't want pizza? got that too...

wow i really wanted a cookie. letdown. i agree though, idk how you could get rejected.

take the satII mathIIC, it may be required for some of your colleges (and you probably will get an 800 on it compared to a mid 700 on the mathIC. dont ask why, but people score better on it)

if you take that one test you probably can get in anywhere with good enough essays and recs. mit and cal tech econ are very strong and as a girl you probably have a great chance at both. also, you are miles ahead of american and george washington so they are pretty much safeties. if you want to do IR, apply georgetown SFS EA and uchicago EA. you have a very good chance of getting into both and that may be a good thing to know in december.

great. i think you're in at most of them.

free cookies! where do i sign up??!!!?!

you'll definetly get in if you hand out some of your pecan cookies with your applications :) jk

thanks so much for all the advice so far!!!

i've got a burning question though:

i'm looking to double major in economics and international relations, so which school would be best to satisfy both of these? feel free to mention a school not on my list

keep those cookie comments coming :D

"i'm looking to double major in economics and international relations, so which school would be best to satisfy both of these? feel free to mention a school not on my list"

For this - Definitely Tufts and Georgetown SFS -- for that combo they are two of the best.

As the others have said, I think you have a nice shot at all of the choices listed (American is a safety) BUT, The only thing that bothers me a bit is the UW GPA...It could be higher. But, as you said, you're working hard and hopefully will be in the top 5%.

Now, where is my cookie???? GIVE IT TO ME :) haha. This thread reminded me that I haven't had a pecan cookie in ages -- and I suddenly want one.

well, about the gpa, most of the reason why my GPA is low is because sophomore year my brother had a lot of problems, he was in constant huge fights with my dad, and had to go to therapy and all that stuff and it really affected my family and i. my counselor said i should explain this in a personal statement since i went "back to normal" junior year and got straight A's. should i do this?

about the cookie, i wish we could post pictures of stuff on here!!! i would so find a bunch of cookie pictures... wow i AM a nerd haha

I don't have any real advice as far as the personal statement is concerned, however, I'm sure many people more qualified than me can give you advice on that. All I have to add is that I think no college is out of your reach. I don't believe I've ever seen such amazing and perfect stats... I only wish mine were so good. The only thing short from perfect would be the UW GPA, however there is time to bring it up slightly -- not that it really needs too much of a boost. Again, I think you have an excellent shot at HYSPM, or any college for that matter, and I see no reason why you don't have an excellent shot at Yale, especially under something such as ED or EA. Best of luck, and I wish you nothing but success! (Now off to eat a cookie... yumm)
