So I'm a high school senior, and I don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Right now, I'd have to say English is my best subject. I'm pretty good at Math too, but more in doing it rather than learning it, so I won't major in that. Anyways, right now, I want to do my best to keep three career paths open: Medicine, Psychology, and English Teaching (high school, professorship, whatever).
Would a major in English and a minor in Psych be crazy for the first two? And would a double major in English and Psych crazy talk (I want to graduate in 4 years)?
Why I'm so infatuated with an English major is that I read once that an English major can set me apart from the countless Biology majors heading to med school. But should I minor or even double major in something like Bio or Chem instead (I'd lean towards Chem)? If I don't will I have to take an unbearable number of extra Bio classes to keep Med school open? Would Psych at all cover for my lack of Bio knowledge?
Thanks so dearly for your responses.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, but I think majoring in something that allows the path to medical school to be easier would be best. I don't think there is one major that really keeps all of those options open. I would major in chem or bio, because it would be easier to switch to an english/psych path than to switch to a path leading to medical school.

I wouldn't recommend pursuing a Biology degree or a Chemistry degree if you don't truly like either subject.

Major in English. Take all of your pre-med requirements earlier than later--try to get them out of the way within the first year.

You shouldn't have to take too many science classes. For almost all med schools, you only need General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Biology, a year of advanced Biology like Molecular Biology or a true Genetics course, a year of calculus based physics, and integral and differential calculus. Some don't even require the year of advanced biology. Psychology won't cover for a lack of biology knowledge.

Despite lville's advice, it's much easier to go from Chemistry->English than from English->Chemistry.

Thanks for your speedy responses guys!
So if I cut going into Psychology out from my little list of options, then would a psych minor still help in Medicine (I don't mean for prereqs, just to be a doctor)?
Would doing all of those prereqs for med school put me close to a bio or chem minor? I mean, if I'm close, I might as well go all the way.
