I'm gonna be honest....

I'm freaking scared! I turned down a full scholarship + $8000 additional from Univ of FL and FL State for Wake, and I don't regret it at all because i know Wake is a better school. But now that I've graduated....A majority of my friends are going to UF and FSU, and I'm gonna be all alone at Wake!!!!

Also, I know Wake is competitive but I do need to think about grad school and i'm scared that it's gonna ruin everything if I can't do it. Like I know UF is competitive too but if I had decided to go there, I would have been with a bunch of kids that I beaten in high school ranking and everything, so i'm confident that I would have survived UF or FSU.....anyone else getting the same pre-college jitters?

i'm just not thinking about the academic part. i can't wait for college to start, but i don't think it's sinking in yet that i will be taking college classes.

I'm scared too...I'm from California and definetly will not know anyone when I get to Wake...I'm sure we'll all be fine: once we get there everyone's in the same boat

lol...awww caligirl, same here! i'm from fl...far away too

I won't know anyone either, I'm from St. Louis.

I'm from New jersey! that's pretty far, haha...

I wouldn't worry about the academics. I'm sure they're going to be hella challenging, but I think it's going to be much better because we have more time to work... if you learn how to manage your time I think you'll be fine.

I'm sooo excited! Anyone else an intended Psych major?

I'm really nervous also, i'll be like 6 hours away from home. It's nice to know that other people have the same anxieties...Is anyone going to order the New Deacons book? I think I am.

Just a random question? Does anyone have any idea which of the meal plans would be best to get? I'm leaning towards the 14 meal plan, but I still worry that that might not be enough...any thoughts?

It really depends on the person, I think. I'm going for the 14 meal per week plan too; I'm pretty sure I won't need more than that, and if I do? It's not like it's the only way to get food. I would personally prefer to go out and buy all my food outside of such a system, but the 14 meal plan is the minimum. So just check out how you eat in the next couple weeks and figure it out from there. :)

I'm going for 14 meals a week too. That should be enough and I don't want to OD on ARAMARK food. Chances are that if you do over 14 you'll balloon and/or waste your money. Play it safe, I will.

As far as worrying about coming to Wake, seriously, don't even bother. I was a little worried precisely one year ago about coming to Wake, but you'll realize it was all for naught. When you get to Wake you'll get into the swing of things, professors and people in your hall and classes will help you and guide you, and you'll have a blast. Enjoy the summer and fogget 'bout failing at Wake or being all alone. Come August you'll see what I mean. Simply, enjoy summer and don't worry.

Also, I live ten minutes away and went to high school ten minutes away (still live on campus) and at the most, there are fifteen people that I know from the high schools in our district. Chances are you're in the same boat as everyone else, there will be about five other people tops from your high school that you'll see at Wake every once in a while.

NJ represent woo woo! =p

i was nervous until I made my decision. now i'm thinking, who cares if a B...or...gosh..a B-. i'm sure I will. but i'll def. be learning, and thats what matters.

also going with 14 meals... thats lunch n dinner every day right? I'll keep some yogurt in the mini fridge, or buy some hot pockets for breakfast =p

In my last year at Wake we had 10 guys in our suite. All 10 were from different states, only three from the Southeast; none of us was from North Carolina. You'll know most everyone by the end of September.

The nice thing about Wake is that unlike Carolina, they try, through housing arrangements, to avoid letting you get "cliqued" up and only hanging out with friends from high school. Very rarely will a student from NC get roomed with another kid from NC - most of the time, it'll be someone from another state. For example, a friend of mine is a freshman, and she roomed with somebody from Texas. It affords you the opportunity to meet new people.

I know two people in the entering class plus about five rising sophomores, but I'm going to be looking for plenty of new friends too.

I'm sooo glad I posted that thread. that makes me feel a LOT better knowing that a lot of us really are gonna be starting on the same boat. Thanks guys....still a little shaky, but can you really blame me? lol....we're talking about starting what will be our family and our community for the next 4 yrs!

I'm going to Wake Forest from Washington state, and almost all my friends are going to the University of Washington, about a 15 minute drive away. I won't know anyone at Wake either, and I'm kind of freaking out about it too.

I heard that Wake has one of the best first-year experience ratings... reading about orientation, classes, etc... I think everyone is going to be fine! I'm just worried because I'm really shy (until I get to know my friends)... ahh!

lol......we can all freak out about it....actually, who's brave enough to throw a freshman freak out party after orientation? haha j/k
