yeah mia's right. one guy on my soccer team knocked up the foreign exchange student a few years ago and ruined her life. hey she wasnt lonely and uhhhh....yeah....kinda bad situation for both of them.

I'm outgoing and our lunch table is so crowded we always share seats, but you'd be surprised just how often I feel like doing what adidasty does, and just going to eat in my car. I'm sorry you're lonely- I guarantee that if you look around, you can find someone who wants a friend as much as you do. Once you make one friend, it's all easier. They introduce you to their friends, and pretty soon you've got a whole ton of friends.

What's even weirder is when you're still lonely when you're with your friends- go figure that one out .

Yep, it's a pretty annoying feeling.

Mia, what worked with my D was she would complement people, a real compliment, like, I like your shoes, or great hat, or nice backpack....It doesn't require a big conversation, it makes people feel good and it generally gets you a smile. Ask the person next to you in class a question about homework.. Most people are nice. Just pay attention in class and see who seems easy to approach, and ask, did the teacher say we are having a quiz tomorrow? That kind of thing.

If you take it one step at a time, say okay today I will talk to two people. Tomorrow I will go to that meeting. Next week, I will .... You get the idea. And the idea of volunteering is the best one. If you are not ready to do it at school, find something out of school. What is good about this is that no one has any ideas about you and you can kind of start fresh. And the best thing about volunteering, is that the people that volunteer are doing it for several reasons- to help people, to help themselves, to meet people....

try it, take it slow and forgive yourself. I don't know if you go to a church or anything, but that can also be good.

Take Care
