Right now I am a second year, but a freshman. The reason is because I had a major brain surgery this past semester so I could only take two classes, and the semester before I only took four. This means that I have 35 units complete when at this point I should have 45.
This coming semester I am taking 14 units, so at the end of this year, instead of having 60 units complete, I will only have 49 complete.
I was planning on applying this coming fall, and taking between 24 and 30 units this coming year. Possibly doing 12 units first semester, then a semester abroad, or maybe just a normal 15 and 15.
The point was, where can I apply with a 3.55-3.67 gpa for transferring? Most likely on the upper end, Im just being cautious. I would be applying for a math degree or a CS degree.
Also would my neurosurgery and years of seizures help?
Im already going to be applying to the UCs and USC.
Thanks!
Are you in-state in California?
https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major can give you an idea of what kind of GPAs admitted transfer students to UCs have.
First Id like to start by saying while I said 3.55 to 3.67 originally, that was because I didnt know what my gpa last semester was at the time and how it would affect my gpa. I was a little nervous so I calculated between a wide-ish range.
Turns out I got a 3.92! so my overall gpa is a 3.62. Also, I realized I cant apply yet, so I will be applying this fall, meaning I have to do two more semesters. So I as long as I raise my gpa to above 3.65, I should be able to get into all UCs for many math majors.
So far Cal is my number 1, UCLA #2, and USC and UCSD are my #3 (but only for CS, I wouldnt go to USC or UCSD unless I get in for CS).
I dont mind on doing math, if thats what I get into, because I plan on going to CS (which I am currently already doing) for a masters and then phd.
My point is though, Im currently looking for Universities that arent UCs, USC, or CSUs (I have no plan on going to a CSU).
I really want to find a university to apply to that is good for CS or Math and in my range.
Thanks!
