Hey guys
Applying to: Berkeley, Columbia, Dartmouth, USC, Michigan, Pomona, Williams, Rice, Johns Hopkins, and BC
I already got into Boston College and Michigan.
Very good public school in Iowa
GPA top 10%
Most difficult schedule possible, eight APs. Calc BC (5), US History (5), English (5). Latin, Econ, Multivariable Calculus, English, and Biology.
SAT 800 m, 800 cr, 740 w (1600/2340)
ACT 34 (best scores 36 m, 36 e, 36 r, 32 s)
Good Essays and recs
ECs: Tennis Team, Academic Bowl, Nursing Home Visitor, Radio Show, and Play Writer- I have only done tennis all four years, however.
National Merit sf, random Latin awards
If anyone could chance that'd be great. I'd chance back.

Berkeley - In
Columbia - Match
Dartmouth - Match
USC - In
Michigan - Match just because it's one of those unpredictable state schools (..but you're already in)
Pomona - Don't know enough about it
Williams - Same
Rice - Match
John Hopkins - Match
BC - Match (..you're already in.)

Impressive. Only thing that could possibly be questioned is ECs, and there are enough of those in my opinion. Was that SAT from one sitting?

(And congrats on those two I amended up there. :))

Pretty hard to say without knowing more in-depth knowledge about your passions/EC's. Your SAT and ACT scores are obviously amazing and your grades and course load also seems to match. Just from the information given, I'd say USC, Rice, and JHU you're easily in. Rest hard to predict. Great chances at all if your EC's are better.

thanks for the responses guys. cone23, the SAT was to qualify for the national merit finalist. i'm really glad i took the psats now :)

oh and for ecs, they definitely won't jump off the page at the admissions. i don't think i conveyed any passions except for learning and all of my academic interests. I did write about being a Cubs' fan for my common app.

anyone want to chance me? It would really either put peace in my mind or gird me for the inevitable lol.

congrats on BC and Mich. id be satisfied lol but ok
i say JHU, Rice, USC are def in, P school prob in, williams and berk in, and ur ivies are ur hardest at matches lol

Wow. Our credentials are very similar. I would say that Columbia and Williams are matches, and the rest you're very likely to get in to.
(I've found that Dartmouth is a lot easier to get in to than people think. I know people less qualified than you who've gotten in.)

Cal and USC in
very good chance at columbia and john hopkins. good luck!
can you chance me back? thanks

Oh wait, I have more info. I got an 800 on us history and a 790 on math II

ctascr, what school do you go to in Iowa?

Being from Iowa will really help, if you happen to also be low income/rural, it will help even more.

Dude, from one suffering Cubs fan to another, I'm not sure if that's the greatest topic to write a college essay on.

I'm not sure how much geographic diversity helps, but here's my guess without taking that into account:

Berkeley- in
Columbia- it's a reach for anyone but you're academically qualified. worth a try.
Dartmouth- same as columbia.
USC- in
Pomona- match
Williams- same as columbia and dartmouth
Rice- probably
Johns Hopkins- probably

Can you chance me back? I have similar stats and a few schools in common, so I'd be interested in your opinion

Berk - reach OOS
USC - match
Pomona - high match/low reach

Williams - high match
