Hello I’m a freshman in High School and I just talked to my counselor and I decided to take AP World History for my sophomore year, this is gonna be my first AP class. I’m doing well in my history class right now and so I think I’m maybe ready for my first AP class. Is there any helpful tips or anything I should know?
@corgilover26 Best advice is to stay on top it from day one. AP world and many other APs are very different from regular or even honors classes. The amount of info and the pace of the class plus there is a lot of work that needs to be completed on your own. If you are ready for the challenge go for it! Good luck!

AP History classes can require a LOT of reading. I am personally more familiar with AP European History, which I refer to as the most difficult A- that I have ever witnessed in my life. My daughter assures me that premed organic chemistry in university was harder, but that is faint praise.
You state you are doing well in history but do you love ancient history? If not, bypass the class. You don’t have to take every AP class in high school. Take AP’s in subjects you are interested in, not to impress an admission officer.
Thanks for the advice! I use to hate history but now I generally like it.
