Participant in the Michigan State University High School Honors Science Program in 2010; worked in nuclear astrophysics at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory and Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics. Modified an existing computer program to create a program investigating nuclear reaction rate dominance in various astrophysical environments, especially supernovae. Siemens Semifinalist award was for this work.
Wrote a short article about my project for the Hartford Courant’s “Science Matters in Connecticut” series, which will be published in December

Outdoor Track: all four years

Summer 2009: volunteered twice a week at the public library doing inventory (30 hours total), took Driver’s Ed

Recs:
AP US Government and AP Physics teachers (both of whose classes I loved and in which I did well; both should be good)
MIT, Princeton, and Dartmouth, the only schools that will accept a third teacher recommendation: my research teacher. Not a primary rec because a rec from a nontraditional subject might hurt me. This letter, however, should be a big help -- he knows me better than any other teacher.
MIT: letter from my summer mentor describing my project.

Essays have been looked at by parents and an English teacher. They should be good, certainly genuine.

Any thoughts? Princeton is my top choice.

Harvard - reach
Princeton - high match (not sure how much legacy boosts you)
MIT (EA) - low reach/high match
Stanford - low reach
Cornell - match
Dartmouth - match
University of Michigan (EA) - match
University of Connecticut (EA) - in

impressive

You have an amazing shot at all of the schools you listed. :D

OMG How do you have time to do anything !!!
But yu have a great shot at all those schools

Don’t listen to daem0n. You are a high match for all of the schools you listed. 2380 on SAT’s, solid Subject test scores, and a solid amount of AP’s. Your EC’s are impressive at the least and with a great essay, I’d say you’re into all of them. I don’t know why he meant by “match” for UMich, you exceed their average applicants qualifications by a LOT. Harvard, Princeton, MIT, and Stanford are the only 4 that might be questionable. But I have a Chinese friend that had very similar scores to you, lower subject test scores though. SAT: 800M, 800CR, 720W. He didn’t have even half of the EC’s you have and got accepted to MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. You have a clear advantage being a girl, not being sexist or anything but there are VERY FEW female Physics majors in those colleges.

Thanks guys! bump?

I would have to agree with what was previously said. Great chances everywhere. good luck!

Really awesome stats all across the board! You have such an impressive resume! The only reason why I said reach for some of these schools is because sometimes admissions are so random. You are highly competitive everywhere on your list. Good luck :)

Harvard-high match/low reach
Princeton (legacy: father, uncle, grandfather)-high match
MIT (EA)-high match
Stanford-high match/low reach
Cornell-match
Dartmouth (legacy: aunt, uncle)-match
University of Michigan (EA)-in
University of Connecticut (EA)-in

Can you take a look at my (inferior) chance me thread please ;)
