I'm Not a Citizen PR but i have a SSN

Hey guys,
I can really use some help on this one. I have been in the US since 6th grade, but I am not a citizen or a perm resident. However, i am I-485 pending and i have an EAD card and currently my visa is AOS (adjust of status). I know I am eligible for FAFSA (unlike true international students) because i have SSN and am I-485 pending. So the question is, if i put that I will apply for "need-based financial aid" and give my social on common application and the supplements but put other as my citizenship, will i still be counted as international?
I know true international students are put into a VERY small and competitive pool of applicant and so i do not want to make any mistake and risk being rejected by colleges.
thanks for all the help
