<p>For most of my high school and junior college carrier I had aspirations of attending UCLA. When I first applied to my junior college they placed me in English 98. I didn't agree with the placement so I sent in the proper forms to challenge my placement. They required me to submit a piece of literature I have written. They concurred with my beliefs that I should be in at least English 101. I then proceeded to take English 101 my first semester like a normal freshman. I continued on with English 103 the following semester. My 3rd semester I didn't take any English courses do to the fact that a lot of my other upper-level courses were high demanding in literature and the courses 230 and 231 were not offered. Now that it is time to apply to the UCs I have come to realization that they won't accept those students for English who haven't completed English 230 and 231. I talked to the head of the English department and she said that they switch off years between British Lit (230 and 231) and American Lit. So, essentially, anyone who wishes to apply to UCLA as an English major every other year can not do so.</p>
<p>I figured I could finish writing my personally statement overnight then have some of my friends review it for me. I can't do so now because I don't know if I can transfer in without 230 and 231. I may have to change my major to Political Science. The personal statement requires that you express your major.</p>
<p>I felt sure about admission into UCLA with my GPA going in as a English major since it isn't an impacted major. I am unsure about Political Science. I will have a GPA of 3.3 - 3.4, member of the Honors Enrichment Program, member of the Associated Student Body, original establisher of the campuses Political Science Club, and many other ECs.</p>
<p>After looking at Assist.org I discovered I almost meet the requirements for being political science major at Berkeley and UCLA. I have PS 101, Honors PS 102 (next semester), Honors HIST 111, and HIST 102 (next semester).</p>
<p>What are my chances for Political Science at UCLA or Berkeley? Should I stick with English and hope I get accepted without those 2 courses? I haven't completed all my foreign language requirements either for English. Will that be a problem.</p>
<p>Thanks for your time. This just really frustrates that even though I went to my counselors every semester and expressed my desires to attend UCLA, no one warned me about the English courses they won't offer unless I want to stay for 3 years.</p>
