I haven't start on my college essay... well i kind of did but i reread it over and over and it sounded like its so disorganized and crappy. Does anyone know some kind of format i can use to write my essay on life changing experiences? Just a brief template and hopefully i can write something out....

Bummpppppppppppppppppppppp

There really is no set “format” for an essay, and I’m a senior writing essays too, so I don’t know how much help I can be, but…

Hook - Something to draw your reader into the story (An interesting statement, question, dialogue, etc.)

Introduce the event - Be descriptive, describe how you felt about the experience before/after it occurred

Discuss how you’ve been changed by the event - How it has made you a better person or what you’ve learned from it (This part highlights the qualities you want colleges to see in you)

If you want an opinion on how your essay is, send it over and I’ll check it out. Also, try to describe more than tell. Describe how you felt, what you saw, etc.

What I find helpful is to wing it, and then go back and delete all the extra mumbo jumbo at the beginning. Start your essay right in the middle of the action. This will attract attention to your essay, which is what you want.
