I'm scared

hey guys so i just took the aleks placement test and got a 98. I did not think it was bad at all but it took me like 8 hours to finish. i thought i got a lot wrong. I feel like its so sketchy because in freshman and sophomore year i had c’s in math but last year and now I’ve been doing well in calculus. Plus i got my act math score to go from an 18 to 26 so i spent the entire summer doing math. i really hope this doesn’t seem weird I’m very scared. my roommate is in ap calc and got a 58. idk am i overthinking

Why are you scared? Scores of 30 or higher reflect adequate preparation for college-level math. What is your intended major?

but isn’t 98 considered “too good?” like won’t they think its weird how i was bad at math freshman and sophomore year but did well on this? like i spent a summer brushing up my math skills with a tutor everyday so i have a strong foundation now but still idk ugh

i am currently DUS but i wanna take stat 200 bc i wanna get into business or communications @dygibbs

They only use it to place you in a math/chem class – I don’t think anyone would question you about it. And having built up your math skills recently is a good enough explanation regardless. Good job!

The purpose for the placement test is to measure your strengths and/or weaknesses in math. From your score, you will be placed in the appropriate math course; however, you will not be permitted to take a course that is above your readiness level.

You are overthinking this. Your score is not “too good”; it’s your score. Just see it as a summer well-spent…good job!

@nammyohorengekyo, you will have the chance to discuss your math options with your academic advisor at your scheduled NSO.

No one will care. Your score is sufficient for you to take stats. That’s all your adviser will know (they won’t know our HS record except for AP credits or placement).
