i'm screwed... [sat score report]

okay so i just finished everything related to cornell's application (including supplement essays, teacher/counselor forms, financial aid). i am ready to send everything right now if i wanted to, but there's a big problem: i did not send in my sat score report to cornell yet. the reason i left it until now was because i wanted to send everything together at once. however, on collegeboard it sez that the delivery of test scores takes 1-2 weeks, which means if i send the sat scores right now they might not reach cornell by Nov. 1 (ED deadline). Now, i know there is the rush sending option, but i have heard from others that colleges highly frown upon this option, as the rush report is sent with a different, unfavorable format. If i send the scores w/out rush right now, and cornell receives the scores later than nov. 1, am i screwed for admissions? please help me out!!

same problem goes for act test- does cornell accept priority delivery?

I would call admissions for your respective college first thing in the morning. I would think rushing the scores is fine. They always have information coming in later than the due-date for one reason or another. As long as you let them know what is going on, everything will be fine!

When I registered for my October SAT I put Cornell down as recipient, and it has already received my score report and updated my applicant profile.

thanks for the reply you two, but i really need a definite reply. i know i should call the admissions office tomorrow morning, but i need an answer now...it might be too late by tomorrow...
also, for the act priority sending method, there is a notice saying that colleges who receive scores only electronically will not accept priority. so, does cornell only receive scores electronically or not? (i know i'm asking questions that i should be asking a cornell admissions rep, and i apologize but the admissions office doesn't open til tomorrow and i need answers now...)

No, the deadline is only for your application. You have a little bit more time for your transcript, scores and teacher's recommendations.

Don't freak out. They will not throw out your application just because your SAT scores were late. I had a few friends who in fact DID send their SAT score reports, but about 2 weeks after the deadline they got contacted that their scores were missing. So, they had to rush them out that day. A normal proportion of them still were accepted.

are u sure?? ur comment is giving me a whole lot of relief...so should i just stick with the "regular" option rather than rush/ priority?

i had a same problem yesterday, and I just sent with regular shipping.
I think it would be alright.

If you were my kid, I would tell you to call the admission office tomorrow to find out if you should rush it or do regular. Most schools will tell you if your application is not complete, but this is the Big Red machine, ED period is a lot shorter than RD, so they may not have the time to contact everyone. They have not admitted students for not choosing the school they are applying to (you think they would have contacted those students to clarify). But they will not throw your application out if your SAT score is not there by Nov 1.

definitely call for your own piece of mind. But in general, colleges do NOT want rushed scores bcos they in hardcopy format and are delivered by courier mail. Regular delivery of scores is electronic, so the scores are automatically uploaded into the app system and easier (and faster) for the college to process.

What if I already rushed my scores?...

"If you request that score reports be sent after you have received your scores, scores will be sent approximately 3-to-5 weeks after you submit your request." - Collegeboard website

Didn't see any other way besides rushing. >.>

where on collegeboard website does it say 3-5 weeks? if you could provide a link i would appreciate it.

edit: thanks to all who replied! i am very thankful. i'll be sure to contact the admissions office tomrorow morning.

My SAT: Help

If you could, ask them about their view on rushed reporting... I'm kind of curious seeing as that's what I did.

I just called the admissions office and the lady told me that I need to rush the scores. After viewing this thread and another scores thread, I sent my scores regular last night. I have no idea what to do.

Has anyone else called the admissions office lately? I tried calling again but the same lady picked up, so I hung up(Don't laugh guys, this is serious).

^ Why did you not wait to call admissions? I don't know what to tell you.

^^ Actually, there is something that may work. CALS allowed it, but idk what school you are applying to. You could photocopy an unofficial score report and fax it to the college. This will at least show them that your official score is on the way, and that you intended to meet the deadline. However, I highly recommend you call and find out about doing this before you actually do it.

When you send your scores on line it came up 1-2 weeks for scores, they will not disregard your app because they have not rec'd scores. This is also why you self report on common app.

uhmm this is a little strange. rayfan, i called the admission office this morning to ask about this issue, and i was told to just send the scores without the rush / priority option. the admission officer said they accept rush reports as well, but they strongly prefer non-rush. so, why would there be two conflicting views on this from two different admission officers??
i think i'm gonna have to email the ad office...
