I'm shopping courses and all of my original thoughts have become overturned.

Harvard certainly has many merits, but it definitely is not a touchy-feely hand holding school. Life is a lot less complicated at my son’s college.

^ actually, Harvard’s advising has amazed us - son seems to constantly be meeting with some advisor or other. We have felt there has been ample hand-holding. Almost too much sometimes. And the shopping period drives him to distraction - he always sets out with a short list but each day keeps adding to it and then ends up having a very hard time making the final choices and taking more classes than is prudent. We dread shopping period! Wish he just registered a month or so prior and that was that.

^ Not our experience at all regarding the advising. But I do agree with you about shopping period … always too great many courses to choose from!

I have finally chosen my four courses!! I’m very excited to be sure of this.

But as for me, my advisors don’t meet with me often…in fact, I’ve met with each of them only once and have had to ask other upperclassmen for advice. But it may be because the people advising me are too busy with other things, and when they do give me advice, it really is helpful and great!
