The very fact that this veteran himself is a student there should make you shut up and stop insulting the whole student body. Further, you go on about liberals, showing that your post is also partisan. Do you know the political leanings of the veteran in question? He could be conservative, liberal, libertarian, or socialist, it doesn’t matter. He is also a student there, and it’s his role in the conflict being spoken of, not his political, social, or economic beliefs.

What are you fools talking about I said in an earlier post that I don’t think that all Columbia students are like this. But being liberals you perverted my words. Post number 9.

you’re the one who attacked liberals. why?

who are these liberals you talk about? your problem is the fact that you throw out words without precision, and write without thinking (as evinced by your poor grammar). conservatives are just as troubled in their ability to ‘behave’ in public.

indeed most people that are anti-rotc would prefer the term radical as it is more in line with the tradition of thought in america that they represent; often marginalized, but throughout history it has been a clarion call for things that later are implemented.

How do you know these people were so called “radical leftists”? You’re the one sounding radically hateful. And you called those of us who disagreed with your sweeping generalizations “fools” and “word-perverting liberals”.

Don’t equate small things to Nazism, it demeans the suffering of millions of people.

“How do you know these people were so called “radical leftists”?” I guess they were conservatives. And I was not making the connection between grammar and politics. This was turning into a political debate instead of a decision about the issue. i was trying to make in clear to some people that I was not doing this “over spilled milk”. That I actually have a heart and I could be offended when a bunch of students call a soldier a racist. Over the past couple of years Columbia as been the scene of closed mindedness. The minute man incident back in 2007 was an example of how “dangerous” the left could become. A bunch of students storming the stage chasing the opponents off is a real show of a civilized student. The question is do these students (again not all) come in like this or are they warped into it?

This thread was mainly just a bunch of people (including me) saying how terribly those students treated that soldier and wishing him well, until you began your rants on “radical leftists.” This isn’t turning into a political debate, this is turning into a series of ridiculous and offensive posts on your part. It’s that sort of confrontational, partisan mentality that leads to so much conflict in politics.

No. Someone with a big mouth said I was doing this because I didn’t get into Columbia. They also accused me for thinking that all Columbia students are like this. I said multiple times that this was not true and they were still attacking me. So yes they are fools and most likely they are from the left. It does not take a poly sci genius to know that those students from Columbia were from the left. Just saying. Its over.

Don’t act like only “left-wing” people protest the military.

The worst I’ve seen by far is the Westboro Baptist Church, as “right-wing” as they come.

So don’t make political assumptions and don’t turn this into an argument. If you didn’t want to argue about whether or not this was about you not getting in, you shouldn’t have made that the title.

I still stand by the statement that those students were from the left. You want to bet on it? O and Billy you actually told me to “shut up”, some open minded person you are. No I will not shut up. I said dozens of times my father was in operation Iraqi freedom and I have a full right to show my anger to those students comments.

I indicated “shut up” as meaning “stop making sweeping insults about the student body.” Yes, you’ve said that your father was in the military. Condemn the words of these students, but don’t turn this into a partisan hate-fest. That’s extremely counter-intuitive.

:)

Didn’t notice the plug-ins joke. That is funny, the thought crossed my mind, too.

^^ Im sure Columbia is “glade” that they didn’t let anyone in who can’t spell simple words that we learned in first grade. That is besides the point, though. I agree that even if you don’t agree with the war, you shouldn’t boo the soldiers who put their lives on the line for their country, whether their country is right or wrong. We cannot assume that all students are like the few students who booed this gentlemen. Also, these students could have been at the event but could have been students from another school or disrespectful crashers. They could have been on the right-wing as well. Not every Republican or Independent vocally supports the war, and opposition to the war is not a strictly Democratic stance.

What amuses me is that even after all this antipathy towards Columbia in regards of the community’s general left-wing views and “disrespect” for war vets, you dedicate a username to the college and even applied ED. It’s not like this is the first time something of this sorts happened on campus.

Now, I can only think of two reasons for you creating this thread. 1) Sour grapes, or 2) You had really superficial knowledge of Columbia. If it’s the first, get over it and move on with your life. If it’s the second, then obviously Columbia made the right choice in denying you.
