Im still waiting.....

Could this mean I was put on a waitlist?? I suspect that is the only reason why I have not received an answer yea or nay. Anyone else waiting?? Should I email my rep?

Who's your regional Commander?
Mine is MAJ Houston and he sent a letter to me stating that I was placed on the waiting list a couple of months ago

email your regional commander. they usually reply very quickly and are very informative.

mine is MAJ Houston too..but the thing is I wasnt cleard medically until march 1st so Im a little behind. But I still shouldve heard by now

MAJ Houston! I met him last year and he seems like a pretty good guy. Definitely don't let any more time go by. If you are concerned there's no harm in asking.

My daughter had a conversation with someone from Admissions on Tuesday, and even though they knew she was on the NWL, they told her to pretty much forget appointment if she hadn't heard anything by now. What do you think they meant by that? The letter she received a few months ago clearly stated that appointments can AND are made right up to R-day. Has anyone else heard the same? Thanks for any information.

" I took a close look at your file today and noticed that it may or may not be strong enough for a direct admittance this year. Would you be interested in attending a junior military college for a year and then coming into West Point the following year? If so, here is more information about the program."

There was more...but this is all that Maj Houston said basically...

sounds like NMMI to me, not bad.

My son wants to go to West Point in the worst way. He has called, sent messages, brought his grade point average up, brought his SAT math score up, went to the summer program etc. He has done all he can do. It is dissapointing to know that your first choice is not likely to happen, but you have to move on.

My son is now trying to decide between Virginia Tech and Texas A&M. He hasn't given up on West Point, but at this late stage he isn't counting on it either. I know my son will make an impact no matter where he goes. It is unfortunate that he may not be able to do it at West Point, but that is life. I wish your daughter luck and I hope she gets in but try to get her excited about her other choices just in case.

You are right, kids do get into West Point right up to R-day so keep the faith.

"sounds like NMMI to me, not bad."

hmmm I could live with that

Dunno if it means anything significant, but one of the WP admissions pages says that "Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis with the majority of offers of admission announced by mid-April." So, it's entirely possible that the letters are still coming. Grr...Hmm...Gotta make some phone calls and see if everything is going alright. I had a 30 day extension for a repeat on my CFA because of "the strength of the rest of my file".

In any event, GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!

If you get the opportunity to go to civil prep, if you truly do want to go to West Point, then take the opportunity given.

RReed,
As far as I have learned, I don't think too many candidates are pulled off the NWL, but I have met some cadets who have said that they've received appointments right on R-day. I still remain optimistic.

I also got to do a CFA retake, and I'm just waiting to see what happens with the NWL.

MAJ Romans said that if you have any new information (i.e. awards, activities), simply have your school sent it in. Do not send in this information yourself (unless it is an updated SAT or ACT scre and you are sending the official score report).

Don't give up hope - my son didn't receive his appointment until May 10th last year!!

And the other routes to becoming an officer are fine - once you're in the Army in won't make any difference how you got there. The most recent Chief of Naval Operations went through OCS to join the Navy.

My son also was given the chance to retake the CFA ( poor Basketball throw)
He did and we got the Fully Qual letter and notice of NWL. That was mailed to us on the 4 of April

He got the call from the Congressman's office on the 11th that he was getting an appointment offer. We got the official packet yesterday.
SO yes they are pulling from the NWL My son was only there a week.

Keep updating. Keep trying It can and does happen.
Proud Dad

congrats excal --- we waited/waited last year ..S got civil prep in June !

i heard a story of a waitlisted midshipman, and he showed up on I-day. he told the people there that he was all ready to go if someone didn't show up. supposedly it worked.
