Has anyone on the National Wait List heard anything since May 1st about an appointment? Any news on the size of class of 2010 or when folks on the National Wait List might hear something?

The cadets I talked to who got a late appointment received it in mid to late May. I am on the waiting list too, and I know how your son or daughter must feel. All I can say is Hang Tough.

Call them periodically to check on your status. In my case, I called in time to secure a civil prep offer.

Don't forget to update with any 8th semester awards and transcript.

when i asked major viles about my status on the list he said that the wait list is closed. fortunately i got a civil prep slot.

Did he define what "closed" means? Since the cutoff to accept/decline appointments was only 9 days ago, I doubt they are done offering appointments off the wait list this soon in May.

They started offering appointments off of the wait list long before May 1st which suggests that they did not wait until all accept/declines were in thus its possible they're done but i also doubt it.

I was just coming on to ask if anyone heard, and I saw this topic. My son also is on the wait list. Even though he's made his decision right now, we're back to waiting for the mail every day. :))))

This is my second year applying to West Point. I just finished my freshman year at the University of Florida. Last year I was medically disqualified by dodmerb for a condition that I have never had in my life.(Ive had numerous doctor examinations to prove that I never had it). I was a football player and I had minor hair follicle irritation on my legs which is called folliculitis and some idiot in the process wrote down furunculosis. Folliculitis is something that you cant be disqualified for. Furnunculosis is. They had probably filled their class by that time so nothing I did would made a difference. Anyways, that is a long story. So i decided to reapply this year.(By the way, I am medically qualified this time with no problem. go figure.) But, to my disadvantage, I dragged my feet with the application process, and didn't have mine in until the day before the deadline. So I got waitlisted. I am almost positive I would have gotten in without a problem If i got it in earlier. I emailed MAJ Romans, the SE admissions director and found out I am number 45 on the waiting list and I have a good chance. I understand most people will get in on the waiting list by the 15th of May, but I haven't heard anything yet. A good friend who goes to West Point said some people don't get in until right before R day. I was a busy kid this year at UF between my classes, ROTC, and my fraternity. If I do go to West Point, I'm very glad I did ROTC because the training and knowledge I gained will make Beast a lot easier.

By the way, good luck to anyone on the waiting list and let me know If you hear any news.

Thanks for all of the replies. My son had similiar problems with a DoDMERB finding relating to a disease that he has not and does not have. DoDMERB actually picked up on a phrase in an accident report when he was six years old about something that might happen in his later years. Kind of tough and time consuming to disprove a negative. If we hear anything regarding any movement on the waiting list, I'll update this thread.

I just called up Maj. Romans, and he said that they have finished pulling from the NWL -- 150 out of 600 or so candidates on the list were offered admission. So that ends my journey for 2010.. and thus beginning another for 2011 :D

There will be some more movement. Some will withdraw and those slots will be offered to candidates. Don't hold your breath, but if you are high on the list, there is still a small chance. My daughter has a friend who received a call during the week before R-Day.

Well the journey has ended... received the final correspondence .. the thin envelope and finally some closure even though it was not unexpected.
It has been an incredible experience-definately longer than ever imagined.
We have learned alot and look forward to the other path to becoming a 2nd LT. Best wishes to all. See you in 4 years!

My son got the thin envelope today. We weren't surprised and while I am sure he is dissapointed he is looking foward to Va. Tech. Good luck to all of you and congratulations as well.

armyofonemom & lizinva: Good luck to you and your children. I'm absolutely positive that the path they're following will be wonderful for them and that whatever small regret they might have now will melt away quickly - probably at their first party on campus :).

Thankyou Biggreen, he is really excited to go to Tech. He already attended a fraternity party a few weeks ago. In the end he will achieve his goal which is to be an Army officer. Good luck you you as well.

All the best to everyone... Certainly paths crossing and not. It is great that student has a solid and exciting backup.

When I first got on CC two years ago --old forums there was a post in mid-May calling out asking about wait list -any movement --it always seemed a lonely call for help.

I am at least glad you have some resolution.

I thought my daughter would have been more disappointed but with a 4 year
ROTC scholarship in hand she is happy with her back up plan. For those starting the application process for 2011 ..don't forget to apply for Army ROTC

liz and armyof1mom,

I wish the best for your children. WP is only 1 way to reach the goal. It's great to see that they are happy with the path they will take to reach the goal. Congratulations to them and to you for raising such wonderful kids.
