Im taking the SAT for the 7th time!!!

Ok, not really. But I got you to open this. And now that your here, could u help maybe?

Im actually considering taking it for the 4th time. Here me out. My current superscore is 1980. Im waiting upon my 3rd round result but i messed up, big time. Especially on CR. and the only reason I retook for the 3rd time was for CR. The center was terrible and I couldnt focus, barely any light (basement car parking area), motor vehicle noises, constant power outages, heat. I couldnt focus on what I was reading and I probably wont get more than 600. My current CR is 550. I was getting constant 700's on my diags given in a proper environment. Im applying to ivys, top tiers btw, so.... should I? I do feel I can improve but im not sure if it will look bad or not :/

SORRY FOR THE LENGHTY POST :o

It will definitely look bad, but what other choice do you have? Go and retake it!
BTW- you could have filed a complaint for that center…
Oh, and BTW I guessed that it was just a means of catching our attention! :p

muhammad - you apologize for the length go your post, what about the false pretenses?

I also apologize for the false pretenses :):):)

M: at 1900+ is a good score. You’re done. A 4 time higher score will not likely impress admissions.

Unless they changed the reporting method, TCB only keeps SIX SAT tests. It means that the first of seven tests will go poof.

Perhaps a new strategy here for the obsessed … take the SAT a dozen times and only have the last six tests showing! :)

@sosomenza, apparently every cc’er thinks I should bother applying to ivys and top tier with my current sat score :p

4 times is too many but if you’re aiming for top tiers, though test scores aren’t everything i know, a 1980 superscore wont even put you into the 25th percentile so unless you’re crazy hooked with amazing ec’s that score won’t cut it. definitely retake it if you think you can get 2100+

Bumpityybumpbump, still not sure what to do :/

If you have low scores (according to you) 3 times, I think you should let that tell you something. It should tell you that you are not outstanding in that area or do not test well in that area or have a learning disability in that area. Applying to schools that have an average CR score above what you are able to do is not a smart move. Most likely you would have difficulty being accepted, and then once accepted, you would be competing against people that are much stronger in that area than you are.
Spend time figuring out what colleges would be a match to where you are, not what you wish you were. Forget Ivy’s.

I cannot imagine taking it a 4th time would be any worse than taking it a 3rd time. Can you guarantee that the center would be better? If it will make you feel better, I would say go ahead.

Have you tried the ACT? Some people simply do better on it than the SAT, and you could save yourself a lot in SAT retake fees. :)

Yes, I second ACT.

Dont wanna get involved with the ACT. Nows not the time to start getting familar with it :p

[Insert “lead a horse to water” maxim here]

“Nows not the time to start getting familar with it”

Why not?

It might be a little late to start prepping for a completely new test at this point.

OP, I’d recommend not retaking. If you’ve already taken it three times, I don’t see how much better you could do, and I highly doubt testing 4 times to break 2000 is any more impressive to top colleges anyway. At this point, focusing on grades/ECs/essays would be more helpful.
