thx we are going to NYC in August so I can check NYU and Columbia out...but that's about it.

bump...any other suggestions on narrowing my list from post 19?

it's basically up to you like what laneb2005 said. you should apply to the schools you would REALLY consider going to.

as for me.. (based on personal preference) i would take out emory and wesleyan.

thx for the personal recommendation I can't take wesleyan off :)
considering taking emory off

One final question - UVA OOS transfer, am I still considered an OOS student (as in difficulty) or does that not matter for transfers (like UNC). I was thinking of applying to UVA Econ for safety? Is it a safety?

from collegeboard.com for Northwestern last year

applied 774

accepted 137

do the math, 17 percent

i don't think ur a "match"

i actually was going off of their common data set, which shows a trend since 2003 of around 30%, but I checked the collegeboard info like you said and 18% is certainly a drop. I guess we'll see.

BUMP

Here's an interesting thought...I noticed I have no ABSOLUTE safeties (though UT could certainly be argued by some that it is one) so I wanted to get an ABSOLUTE safety.

Initially, I was thinking UC - Boulder. Took like 2,100 of 2,800 transfer students...yeah I think I'll be alright there :)

The main reasons for UCB were that it has decent academics and has tons of skiing (which is my favorite thing to do and if I have to go to my last choice, I'm gonna do it in style).

But now I've been checking out the University of British Columbia. It's considered, I guess, to be the 3rd best in Canada. Very pretty, and I've heard that everyone goes skiing on the weekends. I could live with that. Would that be a good substitute for UCB? Keep in mind I have no idea about the difficulties to international transfer students, but I won't be asking for aid (because I'm smarter than that).

isn't your SAT a 2230...not a 2220?

ha no I would've been really happy though if you'd just figured that out for me...

the 750/740/740 refers to my SAT II scores

SAT was 770V 670M 780W so 2220.

oh
my mistake...

nice thread btw
how's life?

it is a nice thread, isn't it?

life is annoying and I'm ready to do these applications and be done...to be someone that cared so little about college in high school, i've done a 180 these days.

how's your life sr6622?

2,704 messages...you seem like a wise elder.

I'm not man...I spent too much time on this site before...

Life's ok...

Best thing I've seen on this site are those who don't care about what college they are going to...and just do what they like. Sounds mundane and it is, but it's true. I mean ultimately, if you don't get in where you want, you might as well be doing things you love.

Good luck with your stuff...

lol i understand the repurcussions of my actions...i am willing to accept the consequences of being obsessed over what college I go too...and once I get somewhere, anywhere!, I'll be happy.

So I'm guessing you got in somewhere then?

Nope...
gonna be a senior...

yeah, now you see...wasted too much time.

lol yeah you did at least i spent my 4 years of high school in ignorant bliss

but you'll get to go somewhere good hopefully...good luck to you.

eh...as i said before... i really don't care until the time comes to really await a decision. i can't worry about that stuff.

oh and like 60% of my answers are joke-filled answers...so the posts don't mean as much.

BUMP looking for advice a/b UBC if anyone knows...thx
