Excellent strip clubs and places to eat.

Good Luck Bigtwix!
Our favorite restaurant is Entrecote on Peel St.
Do the underground too.
Let us know how you like it.

schwarz's deli st. laurent and roy street best smoked meat in city/world.

Schwarz's is solid, but Ben's is the greatest deli in the world.

If it's a large lecture class, just sit in and no one will care. Most often, profs don't know the names of their students anyway.

For a smaller class, just ask the prof if you can sit.

I thought Ben's closed down last year after a strike by the employeesSubject: Obit: Ben's Deli (Montreal)

MONTREAL -- A landmark deli where Pierre Trudeau and Leonard Cohen chowed down as eagerly as any other diner closed yesterday after a lengthy strike.

Ben's De Luxe Delicatessen and Restaurant has been a fixture on the city's fabled smoked-meat circuit since it opened in 1908, known for its heaping plates of fatty beef served between two slices of rye.

Former prime ministers Trudeau and Paul Martin, entertainment czar Ed Sullivan and singer Cohen were among Ben's patrons. But then so was anybody looking for something to eat after a night on the town.

"Through those doors passed the entire 20th-century history of Montreal," the Kravitz family, which owns Ben's, said in a release. "The Kravitz's recognize this and are grateful for the unique experience."

The family says they reached a deal with a Montreal museum to preserve the souvenirs and pictures that decorated the restaurant during its 98-year history.

Originally founded by Ben and Fanny Kravitz, the restaurant was passed to their son, Irving, who died a few years ago. Irving's widow, Jane Kravitz, owns the shop with her son.

Ben's unionized employees went on strike in July, demanding a 40-cent raise over their average salary of $8 an hour. They also complained about working conditions.

The Kravitz family said they could not operate a profitable business in the current economic climate with unionized staff, but the union says the owners never had the intention of restoring the landmark to its former glory.:

I just realized it did, which makes me PO :(

Malls? One doesn't visit Montreal for malls (go to Simons for clothing, Archambault for music...). Food: the usual suspects are Schwartz's for smoked meat, Saint-Viateur for bagels (though Fairmount Bagels has its followers, Saint-Viateur has bagel cafes on Mont-Royal (corner Christophe-Colomb) and Monkland (corner Oxford, I think), possibly elsewhere, I forget, so you can get their fresh bagels in a few more places). For poutine, I can't say (my choice would be Chez Ashton, but that's a 2.5 hours drive to Quebec City...), some people like La Banquise (994 Rachel Est), but I was disappointed. Lots of mid-range French restaurants if you want... Tons of good bakeries: Le Fromentier, 1375 Laurier Est, is the best, otherwise Premiere Moisson is fine (lots of those everywhere), Pain Dore is good. For authentic Quebec cuisine, La Binerie Mont-Royal (Mont-Royal, just west of Saint-Denis) has many of the classics and, like Schwartz's, is caught in a time warp. For a more modern (and pricy) take on these classics, visit [url=http://www.restaurantaupieddecochon.ca/]Au Pied de Cochon/url.

Just walk along Sainte-Catherine, Saint-laurent (though there's lots of construction on that one), Saint-Denis (personal favorite) or Mont-Royal and drop by any place that looks interesting (bars, pubs, restos, stores of any kind).

thanks woody! I went to entrecote. The steak was pretty good. The french fries were out of this world, the best iv'e ever had. Just got back from montreal today.

Im glad to say that I am pleased with the school.
