Also the reason for the junior year fail other than taking the hard classes, was that i had a personal loss in my family in the beginning of the year and that individual meant a lot to me..... he went through a lot of pain and passed away. I want to base my essay on this,a nd how it affected me so psychologically that i went into clinical depression and how i changed as a person from it.

Do u guys think with a strong essay, and these many extracurriculars, and a strong gap during my 1st semester of senior year i can have a good shot at : UCLA, UC DAVIS,UCSD,UCSB,UC SANTA CRUZ, UC RIVERSIDE, UC MERCED...also i am a california resident. Please be 100% honest.

Any ideas regarding my essays, how i should approach it?

You have posted many times and I guess you are not happy with the results but here we go again.
UCLA/UCSD/UCB: High Reach
UCD/UCSB/UCI: Reach
UCSC: High Match/Low Reach
UCR/UCM: Match/High Match
Just because you are above the minimum GPA required for UC’s, does not mean you have a really good chance.
The UC’s will not see your Senior grades unless THEY send you a supplemental questionnaire where you could include them with more pertinent information about your situation.
In your essays, you do not want to come across with a sob story of your problems so your take about how the depression effected you and changed you is good.
You really need to look at some schools beyond the UC’s and make sure you have at least 2 safety schools you would be willing to attend. I wish you Good Luck.

what are good cal states that i have a solid chance at? @gumbymom

The Cal State you would have the best chance would be your local in-service Cal State which would give you preference. Other Cal States you might consider are Sacramento, San Jose, Northridge, Long Beach, Fullerton and Cal Poly Pomona. If you set on attending a UC, then going to a CC for 2 years and transferring may be your best option. Your test scores are good, it is your GPA which is hurting you.
UC’s are very focused on GPA’s while Cal States will use your Test scores along with GPA to determine eligibility.
Your eligibility index (EI) using your ACT score is 948 which is pretty good. For Engineering, you want to be around 1000 or more. For your SAT, you will need to calculate (SAT CR + SAT Math) + (UC GPA 3.24 x 800). You want to be around 4000+.

which of these cal state would you recommend if I’m looking to get into pre med after college? @gumbym

Long beach is competitive and with those scores will probably not admit you.

I would drop all the UCs except UCM or UCR. I think my nephews got much better stats but only were accepted to the lower tiered UCs.

Any Cal State that offers your major be it Biology/Chemistry… would prepare you to apply to Medical School and the MCAT. As an undergrad, you need to get excellent grades, take the required courses for Medical School, show involvement in Medical related EC’s and score well on the MCAT. You can major in any subject, so choose the CSU’s you feel would be the best fit. I am partial to Cal Poly Pomona, which I believe is an underrated Cal State due to the rankings of its sister school, SLO.
My younger son had better STATS also: UC GPA 3.73 ACT 31 and was only accepted at UCR although he did not apply to UCSC or UCM. Older son UC GPA 4.2 ACT 25 but was accepted to UCD/UCI/UCR/UCSC and UCM.
GPA is king… to the UC’s.
