immature email?

hey i used the email i've been using for a while for all my college applications... completely forgot to change it and realized it is pretty stupid sounding after. is this negatively going to affect my application?

ps.. i know im worrying too much but I can't help it. :D

no, it shouldn't unless it's offensive.

By "stupid sounding", I hope you don't mean something like:
sexyaznbombshell154 @yahoo.com:p

I doubt they really care.

The admissions people might not even see your e-mail address, it is probably just sent to the computer database and then the e-mails are sent automatically.

For Hopkins, an immature email will not impact your chances for admission. It is a pet peeve of mine and many other college admissions counselors, but other than an annoyance I know no one in the profession who would hold that against an applicant.

And yes we will see your email address as it is on page one of the application with the rest of your contact information.

Now an offensive mailing address or telephone number ... well then that will cleary hurt your chances. (Clearly I am joking!)

its not offensive or anything just sounds stupid haha

You mean... kind of like your username on here? :D

The name lol12345 is pretty cool if you ask me. :D

......said the person whose username is "TheGirlsLoveMe"

edit: Yes, I know: "washableglue" isn't exactly a spectacular username either

I know a manager at Owens Corning who refused to hire someone because their email was something like grinningdemon123 @yahoo.com

I think washableglue is kind of a cool username :)

And Putsch, that email is so innocuous! What a lame manager. I guess they expect a boring name_lastname type email.

no my email is really kind of basic and childish since I made it when I was young but the people who have interviewed me have seemed amused by it, so I wouldn't worry with what you have above, it shows the greatly desired individuality everyone seems to want so desperately to convey.

Thank you, Kristina! I think your username is pretty fantastic as well! :)

wantsHARVArD2012@hotmail.com would mayyybe hurt lol

^^ Especially if you are applying to Yale! :)

"It is a pet peeve of mine and many other college admissions counselors, but other than an annoyance I know no one in the profession who would hold that against an applicant."

Daniel, I bet if someone's email was "screwJOHNhopkins@gmail.com," that would be an instant reject. ;)

There is no such thing as an instant reject. I would say though that if someone applied with such an email address ... there will most likely be numerous signs throughout the rest of the application of the immaturity of the student that would lead to our decision.
