is my email appropriate?

If my name was, for example, Jason, would an email like jjaassoonn@...... be appropriate to put on college applications? Or would they think it's childish and frown upon it? I check this email often and don't feel like making a new email just for college applications.

I think it’s fine. As long as it’s not something like iluvpinkponies@hotmail or drink40stilipuke@gmail

Well iT has a wee bad word in it, the sample you showed, so be sure yours does not

A lot of colleges send out e-mails in bulk (e.g. acceptance letters, college info) so they probably won’t look at every individual e-mail.

Eventually, you’ll want to change your e-mail to something more professional. For example, if your name was Jason Smith, you might want jsmith@… or jasonsmith@… instead of jjaassoonn@…

Why not create an “adult” email address now and start using it for everything (colleges, friends, etc)? It won’t take as long to switch over as you might think - and you won’t have to worry about how you’ll look to colleges.

Agree with the last two posts. And it’s a good idea because then all of your college email would go to the new address and you are less likely to miss important messages.

I went from using a childish email regarding my school mascot to a more appropriate, adult email including my full name , and I agree with coloradogreycat: it will not take as long as you would anticipate to switch over completely. I now use ONLY this email address and it comes in handy when it comes to job applications, college emails, and when family in other states wants to check in.

firstnamelastname(1-3 numbers)@domain.com

Can’t go wrong.
