Immigrant wants to become an officer. Possible or not?

Hi everyone,
I am 19 and I am immigrating to the United States this year. I was born in Nepal.

But basically, I'll be a citizen and a college graduate when I'm 25. I plan on giving up my original citizenship.

I want to apply to OCS then hopefully become an officer and fly AH-64s. (Too ambitious, I know)

Now I know there are so many other factors to be considered. But my basic question is:

Will I be prevented from becoming an officer/flying Apaches BECAUSE I am an IMMIGRANT.

Second, I'll be 25 when I enter OCS. Will I be too old?

Thanks again.

You need to be a citizen to become an officer. Non-citizens may enlist. You should talk to an Army Recruiter who knows the rules and regulations well.

I said, I WILL BE A CITIZEN when I apply for OCS.

As a naturalized citizen, the only thing you will not be able to do is run for President of the United States. Naturalized citizens can certainly apply for OCS. However, it seems as if you still have a long way to go in that process, and it can be a very long road…

Thank you Ann.

Will 25 be too old to enter OCS or to apply for a flying spot.

Second, I understand that USMA grads are first in order for competitive jobs like flying, then come ROTC guys. So do OCS people also get to fly sometimes? Let’s say Apaches.

“To attend Officer Candidate School, you must be a U.S. Citizen and a college graduate, at least 19 years old and not have passed your 29th birthday at the time of selection (age waivers may be considered).”
