Immigration Acts

What are your feelings on this? I think we need to be more lenient on illegal immigrants. The reason they come here is because this is where opportunity is. In some of their countries, specifically Mexico where there is a maximum wage instead of a minimum wage, people are prevented from succeeding. To really fix the immigration issue we need to protest Mexico's corrupt system where three percent of the nation controls ninety percent of the wealth. We should stop issuing visas and take a stand on their despicable treatment to their citizens. Enough of what I think. What do you think?

As an immigrant myself, I think that there ought to be a guest worker program implented to decrease the influx of illegal immigrants. I think a tougher immigrantion policy is wrong.

No I think that we should get rid of min/max wages. Both are bad. I am for having more lenient policy towards Mexico (or any country) on ONE IMPORTANT CONDITION. End all forms of welfare (SS, Unemployment, WIC, etc etc etc) first. So I guess thats never going to happen.

Er no. I'm not all that for being leniant on them. Here are some legal immigrants, that worked hard and are still being shafted, while illegal immigrants gets scot off easily sometimes..

Hmmm....I'm an immigrant from Mexico, I study hard, I play by the rules, my parents are very poor....

Can we discuss affirmitative action instead?

EDIT: Back on topic..

This es me off, now, is it a crime for someone to want a better life for their family? A bunch of dumbas and Scottish skirt-wearing son-of-a-*s came here back in the old days and they didn't have to pass no test. They came here by the fuc|{en boatloads like rats. This law is bull$hit. If the illegal immigrants were hurting you, then your a$s would be living outside in a cardbord box, but meanwhile you're in your nice comfy house on your little computer at collegeconfidential. Yes, you're really in a world of pain.

Like I said before, the only people who have to wet their pants about illegals taking their jobs are the morons with no education or skills to offer in life, that have to work minimum wage jobs. People have to eat, and support their families and I think if you want to deny a person that basic right, your a cold- hearted bastard. A lot of you say it's because of "this or this" but the real reason is you just don't want to be around Mexicans or any other illegals, that's the truth, aint it? You dont want to walk in a gas station and hear a guy speaking spanish, because this is Old Great USA. Right Johnny boy? We speak english ! Our skin is white!

I don't want my kids going outside to play, because there's a filthy mexican in that corner! FFS!

All this other horsecrap about "make our borders secure from terrorists!" is just another big load of bull. You want to protect the goddamn borders then go to the Canadian border where the fuc|{en high jackers crossed through. It ****es me off that a man who crosses the border and has been working here for years and years, who hasn't broken the law, and has raised kids here, is going to be called a felon now. If you aren't a legal American it's a crime to have a better life here! What is this country coming to? So much for the fuc|{en land of opportunity. Bush breaks the law every day, but I dont see people do $hit to him. Illegal wire taps, planting the seeds of war... Some big fuc|{en criminal like that runs free in the white house. Whilst somebody who wants a damn job is called a criminal.

I agree with you wholeheartdly Gumball. My sisters boyfriend is a legal resident from Mexico and he is always commenting on how disgusted he is about the treatment of people from his country. I really fill that America is a nation of hypocrites. We are supposed to be the "land of opportunity" where people can come form other nations and bulid better lives for themselves and their families. That is what makes America so great. The diversity, the mixing of cultures and customs. And besides only a handful (if not that) of Americans can say that they are TRULY native citizens. Most of peoples ancestors (including mine) came from a different country in search of this so called "American dream" So much for your tired, poor and huddled masses.

Illegals should be given 30 days to leave the country or face execution. If your here illegally, your a criminal. We need tougher penalties on all criminals including illegals. Execution is the only solution to the problem.

My solution: Open immigration, abolishing welfare (totally: no SS, no unemployment, no WIC, no food stamps, no nothing)

No need to point fingers, Gumball, especially since some of it is wrong. Immigration does not necessarily involve Mexico, and there were heavy laws about immigration to prevent many groups from coming here. Remember the Chinese Exclusion Act, Gentlemen's Agreement, Immigration Act of 1924, etc.? The fact is that a good many people from many, many nations worldwide want to come to the US. Should we open our doors to all of them, or should we make an exception for Mexico? Perhaps if the UN were actually supported rather than undermined, something could be done about poverty. Transporting everyone to one country isn't the answer; it's just a way of evading the problem.

Libertarianism would be better with closed immigration that is why no one takes the party seriously. Open immigration would be a demographic crisis, look at South Africa for an example. When demographics flood another one, the system is going to collapse. South Africa worked the best under republics, Afrikaans land, Black land etc. You can thank the British for destroying it and started apartheid, which is a false hope.

Well that country is destroyed, South Africa = USA, Europe’s future.

now, is it a crime for someone to want a better life for their family?

[/quote]

I really hate this question that people throw out - it is a crime to try to better one's life, blah blah? No, its a crime to go about doing it ILLEGALLY (by simple definition of the word crime).

I would be willing to bet that most people who rob or steal (or commit a great man other crimes) are trying to better their lives. So should we not call them criminals either? I mean, he only robbed that bank to make his life better - whats wrong with that?

Pardon my ignorance but..
What are these immigrations acts? What do they do?

One act in the House of Representatives would make being an illegal immigrant a felony. It would also make a wall or protect the U.S.-Mexico border for 300 miles. The other bill in the Senate gives amnesty to illegal immigrants. It would give them a chance to work in the U.S. while they work to get citizenship. This is what I mostly gleaned got from the news. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

700 miles of a wall, actually. Just correcting you, because you were wrong.

"People have to eat, and support their families and I think if you want to deny a person that basic right, your a cold- hearted bastard."

cant they can feed and support their families in their own country like the other millions of people who didn't migrate? or are they starving?

with a life expectancy of about 75 and adult literacy rate of 90 mexico isn't nearly as horrible as you depict it, people can subsist there just as elsewhere

with people leaving the country to "get an education and feed their family" and then not even having the decency to return to their country is why countries with high migration rates never develop. Stop using that as an excuse, because of people leaving their nations for those reasons they never reach their full potential and remain as "developing countries". That act is just unpatriotic and selfish. If people would return after getting an education and etc, it would be justifiable, with a US university degree you can be greatly benefited in the workplace back home and you sure as hell wont be starving. But people dont do that.

Illegal immigrants should be deported, and anyone who hires an illegal immigrant should be imprisoned.

A system should be in place for people to come to the U.S. legally (oh wait, there is.) Being here as an illegal immigrant should be a felony, so if you refuse to abide by the law and enter the U.S. legally and get caught, you will never be allowed back.

First off the poster who said that the only way to solve illegal immigration is through execution should seriously be examined!!!!! That is the most extreme and not to mention the most inhuman solution I have ever heard! Seriously the next time you want to partiscipate in an intelligent discussion, why dont you sit down and think of something intelligent to say, K?

Secondly I find it really funny how most Americans are spouting off at the mouth about stricter immigration laws and ways to curb and/or stop illegal immigration, but a vast majority Im sure cant trace their roots back to this country. Alot if not all of our ancestors were not native to this country. Sure eventually you had increasing numbers of native born, but if your great, great, great, great grandparents didnt immigrant from another country, Im pretty sure wed all be back in our perspective nations of origin. It is the most hilarious thing in the world to witness some guy name O'Malley talk about "those damn Mexicans" and how they steal work from quote "hard working red blooded Americans" Its like okay your last name is O'Malley did you think your great grand parents were from Nebraska?

Our ancestors came to the U.S. legally.

OK.... let's see who washes your dishes, cleans the restrooms at your local business, or picks the fruit in the fields after that. Good luck. You should think about the illegal immigrants who fly in from Europe to work along side our business men, take good jobs, make money, and fly back. That's the big "threat". Mexicans? We are not the only illegal immigrants either way we only take the jobs you don't want.

Get those inferior b1tches out. Lets make space for the skilled foreigners in Asia wanting to come here.
