Imperial VS

Hello, I am student living in USA but from CHINA. I have been accepted to PENN STATE, PURDUE,UD,IOWA and Imperial college. My arrogant parents does not even consider imperial even though i have conditional offer that will be met. They claim that since it is in the UK, no one in the USA will know about it and that i will get no JOB. However, i believe Imperial is an good school and better than the ones i have been accepted to. Pricing would be similar and i want to go to imperial. Help me out guys

Are you expecting your parents to pay?

Yeah they will pay. But to what extent i do not know yet

Since top-rated jobs in US also recruit people from top universities in UK, Australia, and Canada, they know well about those universities. Recruiters in McDonald’s may not know the name of ICL, but those in Microsoft do. Don’t worry about it. Or just stay in UK and get a better-paid job. Since ICL is definitely the third best university in UK, everyone will regard you as an elite in UK. On the other hand, wherever on the world you will go after graduating from Penn State, you will be never regarded like that.

I think if you want to work in the US, you would be better off attending a US college. However, do not go to a US college assuming this will enable you to work in the US on graduation. It’s not that easy if you need a visa.

Worry123 - I think you are massively over-estimating the world’s knowledge about Penn State! It’s completely unknown in the UK for a start.

I’m doing something related to chemistry and i feel like that no matter what institution i go to, i would need another few years of graduate education? Is this correct. As an update, i got accepted into Mcgill Arts and sciences and UIUC too.
