I was wondering what everyones thoughts are on taking a 4th year of spanish. I know most "good" schools require 3 years and recommend 4. I'm in honors spanish III now and the spanish program here has turned me off to spanish so much in the past 6 months that I have no desire to take it a 4th year. I want to know if anyone thinks it will have any impact on admission to any school but in the neighborhood of Penn State, Columbia, Duke, etc.

if u dont want to, dont do it

if u wanna know what skools think abt it, its fine for UCs if u just take 2 yrs

If you're not planning to major in humanities, it's okay to have only three years of a language. You should double up in another subject area though.

adam7261 I was planning on doing something like that. I was hopeing to drop my Spanish 4 (next year) and instead pick up a extra science class.

yea im going to be taking ap physics and chem (if it makes)...as well as ap stat and ab calc BC
thanks!

Yeah, umm, if you are in Honors Spanish III, that's probably about as hard as Spanish 5 in some other schools, firstly. Secondly, if you are taking AP physics, Calc, and Chem, all in the same year, as well as stats, first of all, you are either certifiably insane or else really good at math and science (congrats). Also, that looks amazing, because you are clearly pushing yourself. If worst comes to worst, say in an interview that Spanish wasn't your favorite thing, and that you recognize your limits (a big thing that colleges like to see) and Spanish wasn't feasible for this schedule. Hope next year works out for you!
