Importance of dance audition in acceptance?

I’m a current junior who is really looking into Montclair as one of my top choices.
I have been performing for as long as I can remember but I am primarily a singer and actress.
I just began dancing last year and am able to hold my own & perform well when doing dance numbers for a show.
However, I am still not all that confident in my dancing ability, especially when compared to girls who have been dancing for many many years.
How much is the dancing weighed in comparison to the singing and acting when considering acceptance to the BFA musical theatre program?
If you have been accepted or denied or have heard anything that could possibly help I would appreciate it very much!

Hii
I auditioned this year for the bfa mt program in march the audition went great i felt good about it. In the end i was waitlisted i called to find out how the waitlist works and basically montclairs bases their program on “type” i also found out that fhey look at each person on a personal level. I have only been dancing for 3 years and i hold my own for the most part but i felt the dance audition was extreamly hard we did like 30 mins barre then across the floor stuff the a combo to newsies  which was funn a student directed the whole dance audition ohh then at the end they asked for tap if you tap which i do and its my best style they loved it. Anyways they said they first look at your vocal/acting audition and say if they already have someone your type in the program then they go back and look at fhe results from your dance audition to see your skills and years of training. They said they do this sonthat they dont end upp with the same type in the program. That goes for experience as well if you are a beginner in dance they want a balance of beginner to advance soo thu cant have too many beginners. Sorry for the long tangent but for being waitlisted and still waiting i have learned alot.
Hope this helps i know how auditioning can be on a person. Good luck

I’m not sure where you’re planning on auditioning, but there is no dance audition at Unifieds, but they do ask about your experience. Based on what I have heard from others, Unifieds is almost solely based on your acting and singing, which may or may not be to your benefit. I know you said that you consider yourself a singer/actress over a dancer, and just from talking to the current class (I’m attending Montclair next year as a BFA MT) only two have extensive dance training, two have never had any dance training at all, and the rest are moderately skilled dancers. Hope that helps!! Montclair is a great school and I hope that it stays on the top of your list because it was my top choice and I couldn’t be happier!!
