<p>I am currently a Community College student in downstate Illinois and I will be applying to Northwestern this fall. </p>
<p>My question is, how essential are EC's when applying to Northwestern as a junior transfer? </p>
<p>I am not entirely devoid of EC's. I am in the school's honors program, a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, a member of the student government, and I am a volunteer with the Red Cross. However, I imagine this is relatively soft by NU standards.</p>
<p>The most recent Common Data Set indicates that EC's are important and volunteer work is considered. Is this same standard held to junior applicants?</p>
