Importance of GPA/Class Rank in admissions?

<p>I was wondering...I have a 3.9 GPA and my ranking isn't that high ---but still top 10%.</p>

<p>I take more classes than other students since I got rid of lunch and study. I also dual enroll at a local community college, have an independent study, and take classes at a community college at night.</p>

<p>Will my GPA really be important? I've been stressing over it since most kids have like a 4.2. >></p>

<p>My standardized test scores are pretty good; I haven't taken all of them yet though.</p>

<p>I had a 3.8 UW and that was good enough to get me waitlisted at CC instead of flat-out rejected like the majority of Columbia applicants. Granted, I had very strong standardized test scores too.</p>
