Importance of having a leadership role

So I have a job offer to be "CFO" at this new company that my friend's brother is starting up. I'm a senior, so college application are due this fall, and I'll only have had this position for about 2 months by the time the priority deadline roles around.

Is this position worth it to take? I already have another job at a doctor's office, but I don't have that many leadership positions. Since this is senior year, I don't really want to overload myself anymore than what I am already doing.

It would probably look pretty good, though not fantastic. But don’t do it just for applications, or if you think your grades will suffer. Just do it if you want to.

Do you have any kind of qualifications to be the CFO? Have you taken a single finance class?

^ What he (she?) said.

If you’ve taken business/finance classes, and especially if you want to do something in business, you should probably take it. It sounds like a good idea to me, as long as it doesn’t interfere with you maintaining your grades/working on applications.

Well i will be taking a business class this year, and i want to major in information systems, which is part of the business school.

I mean he’s right, it would be a good activity if you plan to go into business. But you don’t want to put yourself in over your head both in time commitment and the actual job responsibilities.

May I ask why this friend wants you to be the CFO?

It’s my friend’s brother, but mainly because he wants me to help him with the business plan and because I am decent enough at math.
