how important is it in the admissions decision?

They just want to make sure that you aren't slacking off. As long as you maintain your course load and don't slack off you're fine. One or two B's are fine (as long as you're taking the most rigorous courses available.) Also, your ranking should not change too much.

Also, my mid-term contains 11 A's and 2 B's, do you guys think that's okay? Full IB Diploma and my school is freaking harsh.

5/5 on AP Biology already and B in IB Biology Standard Level.
5/5 on AP Calculus already and 87% (A in my school) in IB Mathematics Higher Level. Wow... just amazed.

Top 3% in 300 students though.

you have 13 grades?

that sounds pretty good.

does anyone know if getting all A's can boost your chances?

Getting all A's can only help right? =.=

mid year report doesn't matter that much at all. even one C may be shrugged off. anything worse may be asked about, but i doubt they would revoke an acceptance over it.

my guidance counselor in HS actually told me that mid year reports were an ancient collaboration idea on the part of colleges and high schools- more to the benefit high schools- to alleviate senioritis, but i doubt this claim. the only thing i took out of it was that it didn't matter all too much as far as acceptance goes. of course, a slew of bad grades after acceptance may be a sign of a lack of responsibility or maturity, but i would be willing to bet very few cornell acceptees have this issue.
