do they calculate it into your gpa for review or is it kind of a check-up?
im not planning on getting c's or below, just possibly 2-3 bs when i usually only get 1.

good question, i'm wondering the same thing. I only had one B my entire life, but this year with all AP I now have 2 Bs? I'm hoping that fact alone won't effect my chances considering I'm still the same rank and my GPA basically the same.

don't stressss

u'll be fine

I hope! Its hard keeping up with all the ECs I do, all APs, and having a gf/life I like to spend a lot of time focusing on. I'd do anything to go to Cornell and would hate it if B's in APs would hurt my chances that much! Thanks for your input

bumpp.. id like to know as well.. does anyone have a definite answers to whether they calculate your midyear report grades into your gpa/class rank for review?

Doesn't your school do that for you? I think the school just sends an updated transcript, so everything should be already done for you. I'm not positive, though. I think that it how my school does it...

After your done with midterms, you will need to talk to your guidance counselor to send your midterm report.

btw, getting B's won't hurt you AT ALL. That won't affect your GPA "insanely"

no... you guys are missing the point.. what the OP asked is whether or not the midyear grades will be used in the reviewing process instead of the original grades she submitted when she filled out the application..

OK well I actually just talked to my counselor today and she just had me give her a filled out form from commonapp (that's how I applied) and it is just like the secondary school report. It had like rank and GPA and stuff but not individual class grades. I don't know if an update transcript is required with that or if the checklist and rank/GPA information is enough. Hope this helps a little

yes that helps a lot i think

i just went to look at the commonapp MY report and it has courses, gpa, rank (if applicable-and not for me), and some qualitative stuff

so basically, one c = 2b's equals not so horrible

that is a load off, still no c's is best

apparently I'm wrong- the MY asks for a transcript? =[

hahahaha, I was just going to say that it worked in our favor that they didn't ask for one. However, I really don't think it should matter. Is it an AP or a meaningless elective? I think if it were either of the two, then they will understand maybe. If it is like a core subject, and not a high level class, they may wonder. Again, I'm sure you worked extremely hard, as I high, to have the opportunity to apply and have a chance at Cornell, and they will realize that. This one grade shouldn't effect their decision really. I'm hoping, at least!
