I may visit UChicago some time this month before the regular decision application is due. I already know I want to go there but my parents feel that a visit would offer some validation.

my question is whether visiting, or demonstrating interest, helps in getting admitted to the UofC? I know they keep records of all the people who visited right?

I remember hearing that they don't keep records. They realize that some people aren't close by, or can't easily afford it. An interview somewhere is a good idea, I think.

A visit will give you some sense, but who you stay with makes a huge difference, many people I know went in spite of an awful visit and love it here.

The reason why visiting would help is because it expresses interest, but you have a much better way of expressing interest at your disposal already: writing a fantastic answer to the Why Chicago? question and making sure your application is good, accurate, complete, and typo-free.
