Important Question about Blue Devil Day

I'm thinking about going to Blue Devil Days for April 5-6, but does anyone have an agenda for both days? I'm thinking about going only on April 5, then going to Explore Carolina on April 6. Anyone have agenda or how much it'll hurt not going to both days?

Hmm, not sure about an actual agenda. I remember last year they put them online (was it more than one day? haha, I can’t remember). In any case, it will not hurt whatsoever missing one day if they have it for two. April 5 is a Sunday, though, and weekends aren’t the best day for campus visits, so I would visit the school you are not as interested in on Sunday and then going to the other on Monday to get a better feel for the place.

The main objectives for me on campus visits is just to get a feel for the campus and the people in it. So, just talk to people and be open! The vast majority of Duke students love Duke and are willing to tell you all (and maybe more than you want to know) about it. If you do that, there’s no need for you going to 2 full days of programming on whatever lectures or programs they want to run you through. Don’t count on Duke to make Blue Devil Days or any campus visit a good or bad experience for you, it’s up to you, and it doesn’t require more than a day.

(Also note, you’re probably renting a car, but the Robertson bus runs every hour from Duke’s main West Campus bus stop and takes you directly to UNC. Just an option to consider.)

Alright thanks for the information. I’m a bit more interested in UNC so I want to go to Explore Carolina on Monday. You think it’ll be better if I just take a normal visit to Duke on Tuesday instead of going to a Blue Devil Day on that Sunday?

yes, that would probably be better in my opinion, if you are able to do that. the main pro would be that you’d get to see the university more as it naturally is and less in a dressed up tourist kind of mode. the only con might be that there wont be as many other pre-frosh there for you to talk to and hang around. (however, this could also be a good thing because sometimes conversation just gets really egotistical and competitive.)
