Thanks. And by conceptual, are you implying that it was proof heavy?

If you use anything you learned in class in an internship then props to you, lol

That’s not what I meant but it is proof heavy obviously.

Are you asking me?

did you submit your resume with your application? Is it helpful to submit a resume? Thanks!

I’m asking OP, unless you’ve done a few internship yourself.

Is the college of engineering going to deny admission for me if I don’t take advanced humanities classes? I know I could handle AP and Honors humanities classes but they are a waste of time so I’ve decided to never take any. I’m a freshman at the top rated high school in Minnesota right now. I have a terrifying English teacher right now,(terrifying because she hasn’t graded an assignment in over a month, I’m not sure what I’m missing and the end of the quarter is in a week) I think I may and up with a B in her class. Is that an okay grade? Will it be better if I start taking honors or AP communications and social studies classes in the future? Right now I’m taking advanced math classes and will be done with the school’s normal math curriculum by next year. Then I will finish the AP Calculus courses by junior year. I will also finish AP science classes by junior or senior year. I am at the top of my math and science classes and want to do aerospace engineering at the U of Michigan. As you could tell by my messy writing style, I’m not bothered to worry about communications. Luckily I don’t want to be an English major. So will I be denied admission because of this?
Thank you

You should be bothered to worry about communications, and humanities courses are useful. They are not a waste of your time.

If you are not strong in reading and english, your ACT score will take a huge hit, and your admissions chances will be severely hindered. Michigan likes to see a challenging courseload, which includes all classes.

Take the most challenging course load you can handle

Yes, some of my coursework was definitely relevant in my internship. As an IOE major, I thought IOE 202 (Operations Modelling), IOE 441 (inventory control), IOE 265 (Probability & Statistics for engineers), TechComm 380 (Technical Communication) and IOE 424 (Senior Design Project) were all very useful in my supply chain internship.

Of course not every class was directly applicable but I definitely did got to use academic theory in practise as well.

Well, I’ve had a change of heart and have decided to take all of the most challenging classes offered at my school, including humanities. I have however dropped German from my schedule this year to take graphic design and computer tech. I know you’re required to take 2 years of foreign language; but I feel it isn’t necessary as I am very fluent in Persian. Is it okay to not take foreign language if you’re already bilingual?
