IMPORTANT: UIUC TRANSFER spring 2013

I am attending OSU now, but I want to transfer to UIUC.

I was rejected last year. (senior year in high school)

My first year at OSU was fine which means GPA: 3.26 and I got 33 credits.

I want to transfer 2013 spring term, so I have to apply soon.

Very important thing is that I failed Economics class in first quarter.

However, I retake the course in last quarter so I got B on Economics.

High school GPA: 3.35

ACT composite score: 28

I will apply with mathematics major in LAS.

What is my chance...

Please consider....

I really want to go to UIUC.

If you apply as a transfer with less than 60 semester hours of credit in courses that are acceptable to UIUC as transfer credit, and/or you have not taken and passed the required courses for the first two years of the degree you wish to pursue at UIUC, then admissions will use your high school GPA and ACT scores to determine whether you would have been admitted as a beginning freshman. Since you have already been denied admission as a beginning freshman, I suggest you hold off and enter after you’ve successfully completed the requirements to transfer in as a Junior. You can apply now, of course, but the results will likely be the same if they just consider your HS record and ACT scores.

However, UIUC Website said that if I have over 30 transfer credit, I can apply for sophomore transfer student.

I did all pre-requirement courses which are calculus 1 & 2.

I also finished calculus 3.

Can u please tell me that do I have a chance to get into UIUC for 2013 spring term???

Of course you have a chance, and I hope you are successful. Understand that many want to get in. Admissions has a tough job. It’s never personal. Whether you get accepted, or not, keep trying. It’s just that the considerations they weigh for sophomore transfer applicants to the few spots that open up are heavily weighted towards whether you would have been admitted as a freshman applicant. Since you were previously denied, your chances are a reach, but if you don’t get accepted, apply as a junior transfer. Then you’re solely judged on your college record. Good luck.

First it’s 30 credit hours. If you don’t have 30 hours then they look at your high school performance. The only reason they require you to submit your high school transcripts is for proof of graduation. So if you have 33 and you did really well then they won’t look at your high school.

Any transfers receive their decisions yet?

@ddung5425 I’m hoping to transfer from UC, just an hour and a half south of you. Since you have 33 credits, I don’t think they’ll weigh your high school transcript as heavily as your college transcript. Honestly, this admissions process is such a crapshoot. It’s very arbitrary, but I wish you the best of luck. Here’s to hoping we both get in.

@redsdave03

received my decision a couple days after the deadline to submit the application. was accepted to the college of engineering for CS. I’ll be attending in January.

I was previously at a community college in Illinois with a 3.94 GPA. I didn’t submit ACT scores or anything. ~50 graded transferrable hours. Met all the requirements except for two physics classes.

Good luck, hope to see you there!

@alkalinelenno Congratulations!!! I received my decision earlier today, and I was accepted into the college of LAS. I’ll also be attending in January, so I’ll see you there then!

I am still waiting for a decision for Computer Engineering. Illinois CC, 37 graded hours, 4.0 GPA. I have a bad high school transcript but I’m an older student. 32 ACT score.

My friend was accepted for Nuclear Engineering two days ago. Applied as a junior. ~60 graded hours, ~3.1 GPA.

@eclark6 You should be good to go. Since you have over 30 credits, they’ll barely look at your high school transcript. They’ll just make sure you graduated. Seeing as you have a 4.0 at CC, you should have no problem getting in.

Just in case anyone is still checking: Engineering (ECE department) decisions are now going out. I was accepted earlier today and set up my advising appointment. They told me I was the second one to call. They must have just started releasing decisions.

@eclark6, I have been trying to set up my advising appointment for the last week and a half. I emailed my adviser twice and called yesterday, have not gotten a response yet. I’m getting a little nervous because I’d like to be able to register on the 19th.

Do you know if its mandatory to have an advising appointment before registration?

I was told (and have read) that it is mandatory, but there is no hold on my registration right now. It looks like I’ll be able to register when the it opens up to new students on Monday.

My friend got an appointment with Nuclear Engineering on the 20th, but ECE is closed next week so I the best I could do was the 30th. I’m going to try to register on Monday anyway because there are very few spots left in one of my required courses.

Hmm that’s interesting. It says on my registration page that I do have a hold on my registration.

New Student Jan 01, 2012 - Mar 01, 2013 Advising is required

Really hope that I can get in touch with my adviser by the 19th. There are few spots left in a couple of my required classes as well. Guess we’ll see what happens

Mine doesn’t say that. I’ll check with my friend and see if she has a hold.

By the way, this only appears under the “View Holds” section at the bottom of the page. Let me know if you were able to register for your classes, hopefully we both are lol.
