Importantance of Foreign Language to Colleges

Hi,

This year is my junior year of high school, and right now I'm enrolled into French IV Honors (my third year of French), and so far I absolutely hate the class and am failing it, because the teacher makes the class so hard and makes people look pathetic in french and fails them.

So yeah I'm either thinking about dropping down from honors to regular French IV or completely dropping the class and taking some other honors class (prolly social studies). All my other courses are APs. And last year I took french 3 honors so will that have an impact on the adcom if they see that change in level?

Should I drop the course, and if so which course should I take instead?

Also, how important is the standard 4 year requirement of colleges for foreign languages?

Does the level count as years, because then I wouldn't have to take french senior yr b/c im in level 4 rite now (not that i rly plan to anyway).

Thanks so much!

"standard 4 year requirement of colleges for foreign languages"...
Requirements are just that, required. If the college recommends 4 years that is different. Still, if a college recommends something it is probably best that you try to follow that recommendation.
