Impressions so far

So, for all you 2010’s, now that you have been there for a week, what are your impressions? How was your move in? Have you enjoyed the seminars, classes and activities you have participated in? Your hallmates, dorms, roomies? Give a little feedback.

eh, its alright

AudiB4, as a parent of a '10 I can tell you that my offspring is having a BLAST!
She has met a lot of people, gone to the required meetings, participated in most of the other orientation activities, and gone to a few parties as well. Although she is looking forward to seeing what her classes are like, she is very sorry that "Camp Brown" has to come to an end. Her personal vote would be for a few more weeks (months? years?) of orientation. However, she is also exhausted. I am not sure how much more fun she has the stamina to take!

shopping period is annoying and professors seem to greatly vary.

i cant find an interesting 4th class to take since i had to drop my math class because my professor seems out of it.

ok now it's supposed to be the happiest college on earth...I hope someone has something good to say since I really want in that damn school.

Shopping period is fantastic (I am a sophomore). I have never gone into shopping period with the same classes I leave with. A lot of the math professors, especially, teaching basic level stuff are not great here-- it's one of the weaker teaching departments (rather strong on discrete math research though from my understanding). What are you into bobbobbob I am sure we can come up with a great class to take...

Well I know im taking ch33 and bn1. im registered for ps11 but im waiting on ps40 until tuesday to see if i get in...if not, i dont know what to do...maybe EN09 but aside from that, i dont know.

I mean, that's nothing that I'd be excited about, they're all pretty basic freshman courses. There weren't any seminars that got you going? Is Tomasi teaching ps11? He's pretty sweet. PS40 is pretty generic from my understanding. EN09 is supposed otbe great, but I am not sure if that class is going to still have spots, I am not sure how that works. You may want to check out the Geo department, they're really great people, and even thoguh I hated the class I took, I loved the professors and the grad students, etc that I met there.

Who are you taking CH33 with? What are you looking to do while at Brown?

question re: chem 33
rose petruck or doll?
i sat in on both but couldnt really tell a big difference, as it is so early in the course. does anyone know anything about either?

bobbobbob -- join me in PS10! He's still signing forms on Monday, and you didn't miss anything on Wednesday (we didn't meet today).

sorry lily, i have Chem that hour.

Ill probably take it next year though.

Hey, you're in BN1? I'm taking that this year! Horay for Neuro!

rose-petruck has the ahnold accent, which clearly swings things in his favor

True, true, but I've heard three people say to avoid him (duno why....) which makes me edgy

Rose-Petruck is very easy and won't teach you much beyond what you know and won't necessarily increase your problem solving skills. If you need an easier course to balance things, or don't care if you learn anything and would rather have a good grade, take Rose-Petruck. No shame in that, it won't help you for Chem35. If your interest in Chemistry goes beyond requirement, if grade matters less to you, and you can handle a slightly harder workload, go for Moulton or Doll. I preferred Moulton, personally.
