I noticed Pitt is soliciting opinions on how to improve its website. The basic design of the top levels of Pitt's website hasn't been changed in many years, and being that it is often the first exposure for many to the university, it may be a good idea for those with opinions on how to improve it to take a minute and fill out this survey: Pitt Website Survey

Yes, I filled it out because I think Pitt’s website is lame compared to other universities. Their virtual tour especially leaves a lot to be desired - most websites now include panoramic images and at the very least larger images than the miniscule ones Pitt has.

Pitt website is soooooo outdated I’m embarassed to putt it up for other people…even more so at the “new” Engineering website which is just…painful to look at.

ha, that is exactly what I said: outdated and the virtual tour is essentially embarrassing.

I feel like there really should be a panorama for every housing building and every type of room.

I said both those things! One is that the virtual tour really needs to be a virtual tour, i.e. videos of a LOT of the areas of Pitts Campus. And the other is they really need updated pictures that are accurate and bigger than a thumbnail. Haha. And the site navigation is TERRIBLE. Whyyyyyy is the font so small? Why does the site only really take up 1/4 of the screen?! WHO designed this!?

Most universities highlight research in a big way on their front page and update it frequently - makes one see that exciting things are going on campus all the time. Pitt just has those teeny tiny headlines that rarely change. UTexas.edu is an example of what I think they could do. Imagine the improved impression Pitt would give to a visitor with a site like that!

Normally, I don’t bother to complete surveys, but after having my share of trouble with Pittsburgh’s website when applying to this school, I was more than willing to sacrifice a few minutes of my time to prevent prospective students from feeling the frustration I felt while trying to navigate through the website.
